Twinkle twinkle little stars
I was wondering where you are.
I looked and looked for you last night,
and was a bit worried that you weren’t in sight.
I tossed and turned for hours so distressed was I
that your flashy selves were not illuminating my night sky.
Imagine my relief when today I spied
a bit of your twinkle all wooly plied
in yarn that is night sky blue
and knit with vipers in formation true.
Twinkle twinkle little stars
I will no longer wonder where you are
For now I see you sparkling there on the demure little feet
of my friend whose tinselly needs you obviously meet.
Her knit heart is happy and proud
to wear these glittery socks around.
They remind her of the brave and strong
all that is right, none that is wrong.
So little sockies who twinkle so
with tinsel, silver or glitter you go
right to the heart of this BSG fangirl.
Seriously making hers a brighter disc, oh world.
Seriously.

Too far Newton. Just too far.
Awww, that’s sweet. I thought they looked great!
Scored something sweet for your feet?
Not only is she an awesome dyer…she waxes lyrical too!
I had fun reading Stephanie’s blog post last night about the Viper Socks so your little poem here made total sense to me.
Its a Newton and McPhee throwdown hehehehhehe…. you know you just miss her so much and you’re trying to figure out how tinsel would look in STR!!
Seriously, fabulous poem. An Ode to Disco.
I’m siding with Stephanie on this one Oh Depraved Dyer.
I think it was nice of you to write a sweet little poem for your pal.
an ode to yarn, BSG, with a little Terry Pratchette thrown in.
well done!!!
but i so do love Stephanie’s socks
Oh Good Grief you guys!
(Did you get season 2 yet?)
miss you, xx
For our wedding anniversary (April 20 – 41 years) my husband bought me next year’s sock club membership ! What a sweetie. Loved camp and seeing all of you. Thanks again, Ann
we can call her twinkle toes now.
Snicker!
Everyone knows that tinsel is no longer made from real silver. It’s like PVC or something like that. Since the socks so contain actual, real silver, it can’t be tinsel. Case close.
Besides… oooo…. shiny… !
You just couldn’t resist throwing in the “t” word, could you? lol
It’s the Depraved Dyer/Yarn Harlot Smackdown!
Who knew our Depraved Dyer is not into tinselly bling but our Harlot is? Hee!
I’ve got to side with The Harlot on this one, of course I’m very crow like… I’ll pounce on anything sparkly or shiny :o)
O.K. I want to see these sweet sparkley socks:) Good for you it sounds like you scored some cool new socks!
Ha! This is especially perfect coming right on the heels of reading another blog post about the socks
I must be overworked, because upon reading this again (I do love your writing), I get it…Sigh. I must admit, I keep trying to translate BSG into Black Sheep Gathering, and then I get totally dicombuberated again. Double sigh.
Self expression is an art which you have both mastered! thank you for taking us along for the ride!
lol
Hmmm…now that I’m aware of what it all means, I’d have to say this must mean you can see the value in such silverish glimmers and will soon be incorporating them in your new BSG Colorway? Or will your colorway be a Stargate colorway?
I can see this could be a good topic for the LUMINATIONS panel at Sock Summit -the value of placing REAL silver specs in your yarn…is it a worthwhile endeavor? Is it art? What value has it to making one’s toes twinkle? Can this effect be otherwise transferred to socks?! I’m sure this would be one of those hot topics spurring the debates!
This was brilliant. Will we see more of Depraved Dyer and Yarn Harlot bickering?
Okay, what I’ve wanted to know all along is this: how on earth do you polish the sterling in those socks? “Hi ho Silver,” (there’s) “a way!” And now, with the get-well afghans that showed up on my doorstep today, it’s no longer quite as rhetorical of a question.
Totally informative article.Ive bookmarked it already. Best regards, Adela.
