Short and sweet

We are buried.  We are buried in an avalanche or yarn and fiber.  What a way to go, eh?  We are buried in orders because of the colour change.  This happens every time we change colours so we are used to it.  Some are more intense than others. We are also prepping for two shows that happen on the same weekend. Yeah don’t ask me, not my idea.

And… if that were not enough, and believe me it most certainly is, my dear friend and business partner and your Harlot, Stephanie shared (as she is wont to do) her wickedly wonderful mittens she knit out of our mawata in the I Mad Heart Ewe colourway.  I have been lusting after these beauties since she started them at the Silk Retreat last time we were at Port Ludlow.  I may have doubted her love for me (not really) the slightest of bits since they have not shown up in my mailbox.  Especially since they have all my fav colours.  There is that whole colour thing for sure but then they are silk in what I think might be its most glorious state.  Silk hankies aka mawata are luxurious for sure no denying that.  What gets me is how magical the process of knitting or spinning with them is.  Actually, you know what?  The same is true for dyeing them.  The way they soak the dye is addictive to watched.

As you peel each whispy fine layer of the next you see and feel the filamental mystery. Serious fiber magic here.  I could wax on and on about the poetic juxtapostion of the strength of this superfine thread and the fluid shimmer and… but I have to go dye hundreds and yes hundreds of them. Which is pure absolute bliss.

We have made the order button for the mawata inactive so we can play a bit of catch-up.  Please check back in a week or so.  We stock these silk beauties all the time, so no worries.  And, really, you need to knit with these.  I promise it’s one the best knit rides out there.  If you are making mittens your hands will love you back forever.

Rosie hangs hankies to dry.

A pile of Fire on the Mountain goodness.

Before I head back out to the barn, the sockateers were here yesterday helping with the show prep.  Yes, they are the best!!  It seems we had a little issue with one of the storage pods. (Keep in mind I run a business it is perfect acceptable to have 2 stash storage pods.) So evidently it takes most of the team blue moon and the sockateers to open our storage pod.

What a team!!
