Barn Sale and Dye Party

Blue Moon Barn Sale and Dye Party!

image

When: August 4th and 5th 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. each day

Where: Blue Moon-land 56587 Mollenhour Rd. Scappoose, Oregon 97056

In the not so recent past, it has been our tradition to have a huge inventory reduction sale in November. We refer to them as Barn Sales, not because we are selling our barn, but because that is where we tend to hold them. We usually rent out the barn at the quaint Scappoose Creek Inn and fill it with yarn and knitters for a day. Gads of fun.

However, because of the amount of cool fiber shows and the Knot Hysteria retreats it has been hard to squeeze in a barn sale the last two Novembers. I was thinking about all of this a few days ago as I was trying to find the Shetland fleece I hid from myself at the back of the storage pod when it hit me (A blinding flash of light kind of moment, which was great cause there might be more than a few fleeces in that pod.) why am I so married to having it in November? I mean really November doesn’t hold the magical mystical corner on sales.  Why not have it in the summer, before all the wooly goodness that is Fall hits?

Hmm… I think this might be a really good idea. Since it is summery and warm we could actually have it here at Blue Moon and…. since we’re having it here we could add in dyeing, which makes the fun twofold. Sounds a bit like a party doesn’t it?

I ran all of this by the team on Monday and everyone was on board with the plan. So my dear knitters here we are… on the first weekend in August we’re opening our doors and the pods and all kinds of boxes and bins. Everything will be marked down. We’ll have yarn, fiber, fleece, books, tools, fibery odds and ends, and maybe even a wheel or two. It’s time to move some “stuff” out to make room for the exciting new yarns coming our way in the next few months.

On the dye end of all of this we’ll have a nice selection of blanks in various blends you can purchase to dye. We have silk hankies, lovely spinning top of all kinds, and yarns in just about any flavor you can think of. The pricing of course will vary by type and weight. We’ll have painting stations, pots for dipping, and kettles too. We’ll have an indigo bath going and maybe a few lichen pots too. There’s no end to the color fun we can get into. So much so that some of us (me) are not going to want it to end.

You can come out browse the goodies for sale and head on your merry way or you can pack a lunch and spend the day dyeing, visiting with us, each other, and of course the chickens.

If you plan on dyeing we ask that you R.S.V.P. at {encode=”info@bluemoonfiberarts.com” title=” “} so we can prep accordingly. Also, please wear clothes that you don’t mind getting a spatter or two of dye on or bring an apron.  Dyeing is a colorful messy business (especially the way we do it.)

I think that just about covers it. There’s not a megaton of parking here and it’s a little off the beaten path so we recommend carpooling. If you have questions at all please don’t hesitate to ask.  As usual we can be reached at:

It’s a party!
