Good Bye Jon Lord

We all came out to Montereax,

On the Lake Geneva shoreline.

To make records with a mobile,

We didn’t have much time.

But Frank Zappa and the Mothers,

Were at the best place around,

But some stupid with a flare gun,

Burned the place to the ground.

Smoke on the water and fire in the sky.

Smoke on the water…

Jon Lord, co-founder of the rock band Deep Purple, exceptional keyboard player, and co-writer of what in my humble opinion is one of the best rock anthems of my time (I bet everyone recognizes that opening riff,) Smoke on the Water, died yesterday.  I know, very sad.

As I was drifting off to dreamland last night, taking a little trip down memory lane and listening to Machine Head, I felt like I needed in some way or maybe just my own colorful way to play homage Jon Lord. I just felt like I didn’t want his passing to be some brief forgotten moment tucked into the corner of business as normal the next day.

So…

They burned down the gambling house,

It died with an awful sound.

(Uh) Funky Claude was running in and out,

Pulling kids out the ground.

When it all was over,

We had to find another place.

But Swiss time was running out,

It seemed that we would lose the race.

Smoke on the water and fire in the sky.

Smoke on the water…

Starting today Tuesday the 17th of July at 3:00 pm Pacific Time until Thursday July 19th at the same time, we’ll be spreading the Deep Purple love by offering 15% off on all the purple hues in what ever fiber type it is offered in on the Blue Moon website.  The code is DEEPPURPLE.

We ended up at the Grand Hotel.

It was empty cold and bare.

But with the Rolling truck Stones thing just outside,

Making our music there.

With a few red lights, a few old beds,

We made a place to sweat.

No matter what we get out of this,

I know I know we’ll never forget.

Smoke on the water and fire in the sky.

Smoke on the water…

Thank you of all the crazy good music Jon Lord!
