Contest semi-finalists…

Okay , even though it was tough, and it was, I have chose 20  colorway names and now it is your turn. Thank you everyone who took the time enter your colorway name choices. All of them are wonderful. I chose based on what struck my fancy and level of challenge.

This is a really fun game. I can totally see doing this more than just this once.

Also before we go any further please note that I am early. I said submitting would stop today and I would put up the 20 for voting on Monday. And yet, here we are on Friday and I have picked my 20. You don’t really have to be impressed I’m impressed enough with myself for all of us. ( You haven’t seen my to-do list and I have.)

Below you will find the list of 20 with who submitted them and any description that was with it.  You can choose 5 of them. Please submit in the comment section here only (please do not email them) as a numbered list in order of preference. One being your top pick and working to 5 from there.

Ginger Plum-licious  submitted by  luv2run *
I have a Satsuma Plum tree in my backyard and just finished canning some. The flesh color is a beautiful deep red, the skin is reddish maroon over green, then combined with the golden hue of the candied ginger….Beautiful and oh so tasty!

Pitter PatTINA submitted by Janis (goes my heart)because colors effect you and us that way!

 Peace Candle submitted by ggeorge

Wicked submitted by ariannasanders

Lavender Fields in the Mist submitted by  bleuzee
The purples of lavender, some green from the fields, in a gray-lavender mist in the morning.

Gazing Ball submitted by sasoif
I would love to see a colorway that uses Mulberry and Neptune. They are next to each other on the website and I think they would be beautiful with a pale grey or maybe a creamish color. I was thinking maybe “glorious garden” or “gazing ball” (the colors remind me of the gazing ball in my front yard.

As High as an Elephant’s Eye (All the colors of summer corn.) submitted by coastermeg

Comic Book Heroes submitted by yarnderwoman

Blue Bayou submitted by amyknits                                                                                                                                                        I picture this as mostly blue with hints of green and maybe some other bayou-esque colors.

 Data submitted by dobernet17
For Trekkies:
Never saw the sun shining so bright
Never saw things going so right
Noticing the days hurrying by
When you’re in love, my how they fly
Blue skies
Smiling at me
Nothing but blue skies
Do I see
It’s the Irving Berlin song Data sang at Troy and Riker’s wedding.

12. granjudy *   Koos koos kia – the NezPerce name for the river. Literally water water river, water so pure a pool 20 feet deep looks like you could reach down and pick up that yellow rock on the bottom. Deep canyons, wide rippley shallows, fast white water, deep green slow water, white sand, black, brown red yellow pink green rock, gold and gemstones live here. Deer and bear drinking at twilight.

Going All Kadinsky submitted by Sage

Pollywog – reptilian whimsy submitted by CrystalBell

Chromaticity submitted by erica  which is a word I’d suggested for the second Sock Summit Marketplace

Positive Energy submitted by BonnieB
I read this post yesterday while sitting with my Mom in the hospital. All I wanted to do was wrap her up in some “positive energy” to get through this.
I thought that would be a good name, something warm and soothing all at the same time.

Wild Geese submitted by kirsty
My first offering is: a colourway inspired by the Mary Oliver poem “Wild Geese”. This poem has a very special place in my heart, and I would be very interested to see where you take it.
 Lemon Pesto submitted by AndreaW
I love fresh pesto + one year I grew lemon basil to make it, so:
greens for the basil
yellow for the lemon scent
cream for the parmesan cheese
and there are pine nuts too….

the Roadless Traveled submitted by Sadiesue

Beer-thirty submitted by RichelleCK

Ok so you have until Wednesday to cast your vote, we’ll then count them all up and announce the 5 finalists after which time I will get started making them into colorways so we can get you your prize yarn.  Exciting!!!

PS:  I can’t imagine not making the Tipsy names that were suggested they are just so wonderful! If I do, we;ll let you know and get you a skein.

Have a great weekend!

I can feel the joy in your reflection on the wedding! I, too, experienced great joy at the wedding I attended a few weeks ago—a 20 year old being able to cross off one of the items on her bucket list as her days on this planet are numbered. Everyone thought it would be a bittersweet day, but it was not. It was just filled with joy, joy, joy! Joy that carried through the weekend and into the next week and still remains in my heart. A beautiful, beautiful ceremony (not legal—-her best friend agreed to “marry” her) surrounded by all people who love and support her. It is truly hard to describe!
I am so glad that your son’s wedding was so joyous!! You deserve that joy!!
I can not wait to see you in a couple of weeks!!!
