Carol Feller KAL

We are pleased all the way down to our wool clad feet to announce another KAL. What better way to celebrate the onset of knit season then with not one but two KAL’s!! We’re pretty tickled.

We’ve teamed up with one of our favorite designers, the oh, so clever, creative and seriously skilled, Carol Feller.  I pretty much love every design that falls off Carol’s needles, so when she works that magic of hers with my yarn, I have to tell you I do a fair amount of happy dancing.  I think the feeling is mutual because after I sent her a box of yarn for inspiration I got the following email:

Tina,

I both hate you and love you in equal parts. The yarn is amazing and I love the colors. You’re making it really, really hard for me to finish my final book projects…

Carol, you made this depravedDyer’s sing!

So here we are. Carol announced Capall Dubh KAL this weekend. The pattern is up for pre-sale now and once you purchase the pattern there is a coupon code you can use with us for a 10% discount off your yarn.

Go here to sign up on the RAV group.

You can find all the specs for the yarn on Carols pattern page so I won’t duplicate that here.

What I will tell you is how to use the coupon code, a little about the yarn and how it is dyed.

There is a coupon code box on the second page of our order form so you need to get to that page in order to enter your discount code. After that if you want to use a credit card it is pretty self explanatory. Where it get a little tricky is if you want to use your PayPal account.

In your shopping cart click on the “Go to Checkout” oval, DO NOT click on, go straight to PayPal.  Choose your shipping instructions and click on “Continue to Checkout” on page 2 of 3  –  Payment Information, enter your Discount Code in the Discount Coupon area. Hit enter.

From there, you will be instructed to enter your payment information, either put in your credit card info at that time or click the “Checkout with PayPal” option and click on Continue to Checkout option.

The system will then go to page 3 Order Confirmation page.  Hit “Confirm the Order” to be directed on to PayPal if that is your option.

If you have any trouble please do contact us for assistance.

I have a thing for Polwarth. I love to spin with and knit with it. When our Victoria ( 100% Polwarth yarn) sold out earlier this year and it took the mill a bit longer than we anticipated to get it back we opted to add in this silky  counterpart. 85% Polwarth and 15% Silk. Just enough silk to add sheen and a smidge of drape. It also soaks up color like the earth does after it’s first fall rain, which is what it is doing here right now! I have to say that right now I have a pretty big yarn crush on our Yaksi yarns but Silky Victoria might just be my new yarn love.

Our shaded solids are truly shaded with lighter bits here and there and darker bits throughout the skein. You can see this in Carol’s Capall Dubh. We chose Copperline because we both love that color and because I felt it would showcase this shading aspect of our shaded solids in a stunning way and, as you can see from Carol’s photos, it most certainly does. Below you will see a picture of a skein of our yarn as it looks right after it is dyed and then another re-skeined.  As a lot of  hand-dyer’s are in the practice of doing, we re-skein most of our garment yarn. We do this so the colors are more mixed and you can see more of what it is likely to look like knit up. Because this is a  KAL with a deadline and we want you all to have your yarn in plenty of time we are not going to have enough time to re-skein the hundreds and hundreds of skeins we are dyeing. So your skeins of Silky Victoria are going to arrive at your door step looking like their true shady self!

m2

m1I would like to remind all of us at this point that, as with all hand-painted or hand-dyed yarns, it is best to alternate your skeins as you knit for the best color dispersement, stunning garment and happy knitter!

For those of you waiting for more Fall and Holiday colorways we’ll be posting the ones we are taking down next week and probably putting up new ones the week of October 6th. We appreciate your patience!

Happy Knitting!

Because I can’t seem to stop and I see no reason to…

Mystery KAL hue thoughts…

Today has been the best of days which is all kinds of awesome since tomorrow is chemo round 2.  Shannon came over and we played one of my favorite games, the colorway matchy-matchy game, for our super fun KAL. It was great for me to be with my color soulmate which is evidenced by all the greens. Believe it or not we even controlled ourselves. Lots and lots of oohs and aahs and talk about, isn’t that the best one, no this none is… .  We had all kinds of fun and also came up with really lovely pairings besides the ones I listed in the first blog post. I am going to put the photos of those first ten here and then, for the next few days,I will post the rest on Instagram and Twitter for you all to see.

Sound good?! There is already one up there. It’s called colorway duo of the day. I picked it out for my friend Anne.

Whenever there is this much color it’s hard to resist making a color wheel so we didn’t!

See this? This my friends is an expert yarn fluffer!! It was great not to have to fluff my own yarn. ( Stopping now.)

It’s a Mystery….

It’s a Knit-a-long…

It’s a Mystery KAL. Yay!!!   I am so very excited about this KAL. It’s been way too long since we had some serious mysterious fun and I do believe this shawlette is going to provide us with hours of color and textural goodness.

I’m so excited!  I’m excited because as I said it’s been too long but also because this KAL is with my dear friend and uber-talented designer Shannon Squire and if that was not enough uses our new Yaksi Fingering that all of you are going to fall head over shoulders for (It’s is a shawlette) .

You can go to RAV find more of the details on the pattern and needs and to purchase.
We’ve listed out a few color pairings here, and there will be photos of them listed on the blog next week, but if you’re dyeing (ha! see what we did there?!?) to get your yarn sooner, here they are. If you’re choosing your own, make sure there’s high contrast, because the Yaksi has a silver base, and darkens things considerably. As always and probably forever I am happy to help consult colors, just email me info@bluemoonfiberarts.com and put KALHUES in the subject line.
