Birthday Give-Away Day #2

Good Morning!

I have coffee in hand and am waiting for the sun to show it’s bright face and shine down on  the makings of our family picnic today!

Okay first things first!    hipknitta wins yesterday’s contest and on her birthday no less!!!  If you email paula@bluemoonfiberarts.com with you  name and address and that you were Friday’s winner she will get your prize in the mail!

I love all the yarns we carry which is why we carry them. However, there are a few that hold a special place in my heart. One of those is our new Featherlight. I do so love myself a single ply yarn and this one holds a special place in my knitterly heart. Featherlight so lives up to it’s name, being as light and lofty as a feather on the wind, with just enough spin to give it integrity and nice stitch definition.

Here it is in our Peachy Keen colorway!

You guessed it today’s we are giving away not one or even 2 but three skeins of Featherlight dyed in whatever colorway you want that we offer. You can even have 3 different colorways if you like. I know… .

If you would like a chance to wins this today please send me a comment to this blog post sharing your favorite thing about knitting. It can be anything at all.

My favorite thing about knitting is the process. I love the planning and making all the pieces work together. Choosing the pattern, yarn , color…. all of it.  Which all leads to my favorite moment in knitting, cast-on!!!

Happiest of Birthdays to all of my fellow Geminis who commented yesterday. I really should do a Gemini colorway or two. ( hehehe get it?)

I’m sitting here with my morning coffee too – on vacation near Seattle and loving every minute of it! My favorite thing about knitting is setting up the pattern just the way I want it – I use the KnitCompanion app, and I swear I could just annotate patterns all day long 🙂

I love to see how the colors look after I have knitted something. Always a surprise! Happy birthday!

I’m all about the start and the finish. I absolutely love choosing colors, patterns & yarn. And then I love seeing the light at the end of the tunnel – starting the ribbing on a top-down sweater, beginning decreases on a toe.

    Happy birthday to you, Tina!!!

The thing I love about knitting is its contrasts. Though it’s basically just variations on two moves, knit and purl, extraordinarily intricate creations can come from it. There’s a special kind of magic in that, I think.

It might sound silly or cliche, but my favorite thing is that we, as knitters, can take something as simple as sticks and string and make the most beautiful objects out of them.

    Happy Birthday, Tina!

Knitting is my meditation. I love seeing things created out of simple sticks and yarn. With all the fabulous dyers (BMFA!), it is really exciting to see how colors will knit up. Happy Birthday!

I really love the actual process of knitting. The movements of my hands and the ability to take it with me wherever I go. Knitting lets me deal with whatever comes up in my life, as long as my hands are moving.

My favorite thing about knitting is that I’m never bored. There is always a project to knit, plan, or dream about.

My favorite thing about knitting is the feeling of accomplishment. I’ve always been a “tryer”, I will basically try anything… once! But typically I haven’t been great at sticking with the new things I try. Knitting was different when I picked it up all those years ago it just felt right, like this was what I was meant to do! So whenever I finish a project and look at this… whatever, that wouldn’t exist in the world if I hadn’t created it, I feel very accomplished indeed. In knitting, I truly feel that I have found my life’s work.

Being a process knitter also, I enjoy the excitement of planning a project and also the actual knitting. Even if I make something I never end up using, the satisfaction is in the making!

I like the process of seeing the yarn you chose become something awesome. The clickity click of the needles. I’m pretty new at knitting, so I like being able to read my knitting as I go. Picking out mistakes and knowing how to correct them. It’s still a learning process.

My favorite thing about knitting is the actual knitting. I just love watching a colorwork pattern or cable grow off my needles. Or just watching the colors change in stockinette when knitting with a variegated yarn. Just on more row… and next thing I know it’s the middle of the night.

I like being the boss of my knitting! I can try anything, change anything, explore & adventure – and no one gets hurt. 🙂

    Happy Birthday, Tina!

I love being able to create something beautiful, useful, and fun out of – essentially – string. It also helps that knitting for me is like Yoga without exercise. If I am overly stressed, or just need to unwind, knitting works like a charm.

My favorite thing about knitting changes all the time. Today, my favorite thing is that knitting offers a hands on lesson that I can make beautiful, wonderful, practical or silly things by doing one small stitch, and then another, and then another.

I love that when I’m done knitting something I will actually have something. It might be beautiful, it might be ugly, it might be doomed to never be finished but at least it’s something.

My favorite thing about knitting at the moment (because tomorrow it might be different) is color. I wear pretty plain clothing but I can add brightly colored hand-knit sock or wrap and have a splash of colors that I love.

I love how knitting transforms a length of fiber into any creation I can dream up – to keep toes warm, or hands, heads, necks and whole torsos. All I need is a set of needles and a good imagination. I have a special love for the sock transformation though – that moment when you’ve turned the heel and presto-chango, the tube is now traveling at 90 degrees from the way it had been going. It’s magic.

My favorite thing about knitting is knitting across time and place. I recently knit some Tintern Abbey socks designed by Brenda Dayne. The arched pattern at the top represents the arches in the old old abbey in England. When I knit with any shade of pink yarn, I think of my Gram who taught me to knit and loved pinks. She took me to buy my first sweater quantity of yarn. I chose cranberry red and although it was against all of her “pink” preferences, she bought it for me.

My favorite thing about knitting is the process too – from searching for the perfect pattern, to calculations that need to be done (yes, I love the “maths” part), to stash diving and/or purchasing that perfect color and yarn for that project, to the serenity of knitting, and to the excitement of creating a beautiful object from just a ball of yarn and some sticks! There is not one part that I do not enjoy! Happy Birthday Tina!

I don’t think there is much I don’t love about knitting! I love looking at and touching yarn. I love looking through patterns. I love the color of the yarn on the shelf. I especially get lost going through my stash to see which yarn thinks I should knit it next. I even love the feel of my needles as I knit. Probably the best thing for this obsessed sock knitter is the look of joy on the face of a recipient of a pair of hand knit socks. That never gets old!

    Happy birthday week Tina!

Gah! I’m knitting Featherweight (in robin’s egg blue) right now!! it’s so pretty (touch the sky cardigan).
My favorite part of knitting is feeling how squishy yarn and knit fabric is. Also when I finish a baby sweater how incredibly cute tiny cardigans are. Also having other knitters come up and squeeze the bottom edge of the sweater i’m wearing. I love knitting and I love your yarns Tina. Happy happy birthday

    Yarn. It’s that simple.

The promise of yarn. Ah and a healthy stash of yarn. So many yarns (opportunities/stories/choices), so little time. so a knitter’s gotta do what a knitter can.

Happy birthday Tina. [prime numbers are cool]

This morning I am at my youngest daughters house, with my Gracie,
(She is a Wire Fox Terrier). Visiting with my son in law and my grandsons. We have had a great couple of days. Weather has been magnificent. My only problem is I forgot my knitting bag. Guess there is a first time for everything. Today I go back to Bonita. Love my own little paradise but I shall miss my daughter and her family. Maybe they will be down next weekend…..I can only hope.

I love the feel and color of the yarn in my hands. Watching stitches build up on my needles, and the way I can knit while talking and laughing with friends all at the same time. There are other times knitting alone on my porch watching the clouds drift from one mountain range to another with birds serenading me and my dog sleeping at my feet…hmmmm think I am heading out to the porch……….life is good.

I love just about everything about knitting. I most especially love the yarn. There are so many beautiful choices out there that I want to own them all. I’ve always been a needle crafter of one sort or another, but when I found knitting, I knew I had come home. I love the motion of making the stitches, the feel of the yearn through my fingers, and seeing something take shape that my hands have created. So much beautiful yarn, so many delightful patterns, so little knitting time.

I am loving your blog posts about your birthday. I love knitting because it takes away the rest of the world. No worries, no cares, just me and my needles and my yarn. I am working with some WooBu right now in the Haystack colorway. Loving it.

    Happy Birthday again.

I am a Gemini Baby as well, Happy Birthday!
What I love most about knitting is teaching my twin 13 year old daughters how to knit as well as my 8 year old daughter. It provides a great activity for us to share! I will be attending the Dye day this year and plan on brining my 8 year old to help me! Can’t wait!
