Fall has arrived!!! New Colors and other goodness.

I have been having ever so much fun making new Fallish colorways. Autumn is my season. I love every little thing about it, from the bountiful harvest to the falling of the leaves with all of the colorful changes in between!

Also, being the witchy type of woman that I most certainly am, one of my favorite holidays is part of this season ~ Halloween!!

So I have been at my cauldron of color creating all sorts of hue potions for us to play with. I’m pretty excited about some of these so I hope you like them!

Meet my new color besties…

I will most undoubtedly be adding to this within the next few weeks. We have Hanksgiving and Spooky Specks and I have a Coven series of tinted greys I am working on. So stayed tune for more colors from the crypt.

I am also working on a super fun super simple scarf/cowl design with one of my dyer’s Maggie. We will release this pattern withing the next few weeks. Just in time for Rhinebeck and Holiday knitting. Here’s a sneak peak of the cip (cowl in progress) chilling with some pumpkins. The colorway is Heckley Speckley and the yarn is none other than the super fabulous, serious yummy, Single Silk Targhee.  What better way to enjoy an afternoon than to knit with one of your favorite yarns ( don’t want to make the other yarns jealous) in on of your current favorite colorways.

Don’t tell the other colorways but I do not think I have loved a colorway as I do Heckley Speckley since Pond Scum. I want to dye all the yarns and fibers in it. It is really beautiful on Crackpaca too.

See?

We just took this bundle of goodness to Twisted. All kinds of colors of Crackpaca and Super Sparkle. So if you are here for Oregon Flock and Fiber and have not had your fiber fill stop by and get your Sparkle on and squeeze some Crackpaca.

Loopy Ewe is also now carrying Crackpaca!!

My good friend Toni Neil of The Fold is here visiting this weekend and we plan on hitting OFFF on Saturday. Hope it does not rain too hard!! I need to see some fiber friends and pet some sheep and hold a bunny or two!

Toni and I are working on all of our Rhinebeck offerings so if there is something special you’d like to see let me know. Today we are going to make the Special Rhinebeck 2016 colorway which we have never had the chance to do together.

As promised I have added a few new Dye Camp sessions to our roster. I am loving getting back into teaching and plan on doing a whole lot more. So if there is any color or dye theme you would like to see let me know.

I also put up our next Rockin’ Whorl Club offerings. We are going to play with long wools and mohair. Since Wensleydale was my first ever fiber crush ( obsession) I have over the years developed quite an appreciation for the long wools breeds. I hope you will join me as we explore all the history of these breeds and how best to process, dye, spin and knit or weave with them.

Okay I am off to the dye barn to dye all the yarn! To make new seasonal color story and gradient kits ( we might have a KAL with Miss Shannon with these soon) and to tint me some witchy greys!

This dyer is on fire!!!

Have a great weekend!

A week and then some!

This week did not have the best start for me.

You know when you’ve made all kinds of awesome plans and… it’s a three day weekend, and one of your besties is coming for a long visit, and you are going to one of your favorite events of the season Art in the Pearl, and you are so excited and have been looking forward to it for months. You know that kind of excitement?! You know what happens next right? Big fat buckets of rain kind of thunderstorm on my parade. I woke up Saturday morning with a very painful, red and hot arm (the one they took all the lymph out of) . I had cellulitus!! Argh!!!! Turns out when you have lymphedema like I do, you are more susceptible. Sigh. Sick as the proverbial dog. Luckily for me my oh so wonderful buddy was here. She took such good care of me.  (Thank you Karen!!)  I don’t know what I would have done without her. I have not been that sick in awhile.

So it has colored my week a little as far as energy goes. The antibiotic has worked wonders though and I am almost as good as I was last Friday! Pretty surreal.

One of the things I was going to do last weekend was make new colors. So that is why there are no new colors this week. Sorry!

I am working on them this weekend so they should be ready to go next week.

In the meantime look at this Heirloom Tomato Jam on our Panda top. It looks good enough to eat doesn’t it?

Spinzilla is quickly approaching so if you have not already stocked up we have an offer for you. 10% off any of our spinning fibers from now onto October 3rd.

The code is spinzilla2016

Speckles on roving are seriously wonderful!!! So pretty! When my arm is all better I am going to dye myself some Heckley Speckley in our yak blend or maybe the BFL Mix. Hm… .

Socktober!!!

One of the other fun Knit-a-long events of the season is Socktober. I showed you our Witchypoo and Socktberfest colorways in last week blog post.  Our very own long time sock club member, RAV gorup moderator and all around lovely knitter, Crist Payne (turtlegirl76) is designing a pattern for the Socktober fun and games.

Here is an in progress picture with it knit in Socktoberfest.

She is calling it her Slip Stripe Sock. I love that slipped stitch on the side of the rib!!! I can’t wait to see it in Witchypoo Rides Again!

Speaking of the sock club we are at one of our  discount deadlines. If you have not used you discount code for the year the 15% part of it expires on the 15th of September. The code is the in the January dyer’s notes.

This lovely photo is courtesy of Terri O’Brien who owns Feather Your Nest in Sarnia Ontario. She has a thing, as do I, for our Targhee Worsted. The colorway she is using is Blackbird. Terri will be at the Kitchener Waterloo Knitter’s Fair this Saturday and she will have some of our yarns with her, including the Targhee.

****************

I will leave you with this oh so charming thought for the day.

Karen is knitting a cowl out of our Crackpaca. She posted this picture and description on her instagram feed the other day. She had me at kittens and puppies but then the making smores with them in your lap? Perfection!

Socktober!! Fall colorways and a KAL!

I can’t believe it is September already. Seriously this summer flew by. And really we here in the Pacific Northwest had a pretty odd summer weather wise so I think that just added to the whole where is summer feeling.

It is cool and raining here today which is super cozy and…perfect for knitting!!!

I am more than ready for knit season and all wonderful Autumn colors and cool patterns and knit nights and sitting by the fire and knitting and listening to a good book or my favorite tv knitting, watching cooking shows. I am one of the rare few that actually enjoys Guy Fieri’s, Diners Drive-ins and Dives. I know! My family constantly teases me for it.

Anyway it is September 2 and it is more than fair to start celebrating all that is Fall!

We have changed the colorways and added a few on my all time favorites and a few new ones. I am working on new colorways but they are quite ready yet. Which is kind of cool cause we can have a visit with some old friends like Count Cluckula and Space Dust and one of my favs from last year, Fall Frolic!

Isn’t pretty. I just love the warm tones with that blue! I think I am going to dye some Crackpaca in Fall Frolic and knit myself a cozy cowl to wear all season. Because I love everyhting to do with Autumn I just might have quite a few colorways themed that way. So we will be changing colorways a little more often than ususal.

Which brings us to….

SOCKtober

Meet out two new colorways, Witchpoo Rides Again and Socktoberfest! As one of the sponsors of this super fun KAL, I have designed these for our SOCKtober knitters (anyone can buy them)!

SOCKtober is a fun KAL that is hosted by the fun knit duo, The Carolina Fibers Girls

One of the designers is one of very own NSK’s, Cristi Payne ( turtlegirl76 ) which is super exciting. I am so excited to see what she has dreamed up. You can read about all of the fun, games, prizes and rules, regs and discounts here.
We are offering a 10% discount to all of the SOCKtober knitters on Socks that Rock Lightweight and Mediumweight, Super Sparkle, Super WoobuLITE  and Superwash BFL Fingering.

SOCKtober promises to be a seriously good knit time!!

And speaking of Knit-a-longs…

Check out Morning Walk by Becky Herrick in our Targhee Worsted!

We have teamed up with Becky for this KAL as part of the Fall Sweater Challenge. I think a vest is the perfect transitional piece to move from Summer to Fall knitting. I really love the lace aspect of Morning Walk. Becky knit her using our Pistachio colorway.  What colorway would you use?  When you purchase the pattern there will be a discount code for your Targhee yarn.
