Just a phase….

Who saw the eclipse??

I am sad to say that I did not. It was not for lack of trying though. When I saw that it was too cloudy here I got in the car in search for clear skies. Which if you think about the fact that I live in the Pacific Northwest, the land of perpetual cloud cover and grey skies! Needless to say I was not successful. So I went and got a latte and headed home to start my day.

What I did see was the stunningly bright and beautiful super-blue-moon rising.

I stood in my front yard in front of the pond where the froggies have started their spring-is-coming song and watched that lunar light rise over the hill until the whole forest was bathed in moonlight.  Quite the magical moment! One which was pretty powerful for this witchy woman. Even the frogs thought so. As soon as the moon crested the horizon they were silent.

Do you know it has been 150 yrs since a lunar occurrence of this magnitude has happened? I know we were all super excited about the solar eclipse this summer (me too!!) but this super blue lunar one was quite the stellar experience!

Did you see that Karen published her Just a Phase scarf pattern this week?!!

The way the pattern works with the eclipse colorways is so great!! Makes this dyer’s heart pretty flipping happy. This picture above and in Karen’s pattern is with the A Total Eclipse of the Sun colorway.

The picture below is the beginning of one that Maggie is knitting for Madrona and Stitches in the colorway, Dark Side of Blue Moon.

Look!! It’s doing the same thing as its Solar counterpart.  I was hoping it would, since I dyed them with the same layout of where and how I put the colors, but was not absolutely sure. Gauge is quite the knit mistress and task master!

Most of the Lunar colorways will do this patterning. These three most definitely will:

Some of our other colorways on the website right now that should also play this way are:

Blue Brick Wall, Blue Moon Rising, A Total eclipse of the Sun, Dark Side of Blue Moon, Endora, Grayple, Scumble Bumble, Morticia, Smoky Mtn Morn, Gin Blossom, Delirium, Dark Side of Delirium, Blue Super Eclipsed Blood Moon, Total Lunar Eclipse, and maybe Don’t Rain on My Craft Parade.

So may possibilities with this one based on colorway and the stitch pattern combination that Karen created!

If I was the kind of person that did not run hot, I would knit one out of 3 skeins just cause I can! So cozy and warm.  When you purchase the pattern from Karen you get a discount code for Plushy from us which is good until the 7th of February!

So did you cast on any lunar knit magic?? I did. Not sure what will come of it but I did cast on! Be impressed! The yarn is La Luna DK and La Luna Lace. Both dye boo boo’s . The dark one is a Total Eclipse of the Sun that was not quite right and the lighter one I have no idea what it was supposed to be. I seriously love how the La Luna took the eclipse colorway!!
