It’s all about the yarn!

So I am awake extra early to write this today because my daughter is visiting and this is our last day together.

Right away I want to say thank you to everyone who came by the booth to say hi and to buy yarn! It was so great seeing everyone.

It seemed to me that fun was had by all. As vendors we loved the new venue! It did not seem as well intended as they hopes but I think that is to be expected with any change and this was a new venue and a new date. I hope everyone comes next year!  As we have seen of late if we do not support out local yarn stores and events then the next thing we know they are closing there doors!!! It’s so very important to keep our community places alive and kicking!

This is also true for the yarn bases you love. When we discontinued Woobu and LSS recently a fair number of you were not so happy. I totally understand! I was sad too. Woobu was the first garment yarn that I carried so I was especially sad over that one.  Yarns are discontinued for a few reasons but the biggest one is sales. If the yarn is not selling than it stands to reason that you move it out to make room for one that will since we are kind of in the business of selling yarn. I have let go of a few yarns based on construction weirdness but mostly it is because the popularity is not there.

So… my knitterly friends here are the yarns I am considering moving out. I am telling you this to give you the opportunity to change that if these yarns are important to your knit life. Most of the folks who were sad to see Woobu go said it was their favorite yarn and such but when I looked up accounts it had been years since they bought any. It made me think that if you knew what was going on and what I was thinking then it gave you all an chance to change it if it was important to you!!

Okay so here are the yarns that we are considering. If you love them show them your support!! I would also love to hear from you wither here in the comments or you can email me at info@bluemoonfiberarts.com

I am going to join the the tour de fleece action and spin up a pound and then auction it off and donate that money too!! Believe it or not it is my 1st tour de fleece so…I am pretty tickled and a little nervous!

If you are in the greater Portland area Thursday between 5 and and 7  do stop by at Twisted for our knit happy hour. It’s turning in to such a fun knit time. This week I am going to talk about yarn construction and weights!

It’s so fun to see what everyone is working on. There is also Blue Moon tasting yarns for you to knit on which is a great way to test yarns of ours that maybe you have not gotten a chance to try!

Sheri is doing Ysolda’s MKAL and it looks so wonderful I am thinking of joining the fun. My knit time is not high so it might take me a bit but I just do not think I can resist!! Twisted has kits I put together just for this and I also dropped off a whole bunch of Soft Rock at Coastal Yarns in Canon Beach yesterday !!
