’tis the Season for making and giving and… for a little Single Silk Targhee.
Single Silk Targhee is one of my favorite of our yarns. I know…I say that about all of my yarns. Truly, this one holds a very special place in my heart because it is Targhee, and as most of you know I have a “thing” for Targhee wool. Also it has silk, which gives it some crazy amount of sheen and also takes the dye differently from the Targhee so the colors have all kinds of depth! Wickedly cool!

Also, with each skein weighing in at 9.5 ounces and 696 yards one can get all kinds of accessories out of one skein which is pretty grand! Plus, since it’s a light worsted and not a fingering-weight yarn, our knit time flies a wee bit faster. Maybe I should call this our last-minute, one-skein wonder!

Anyway we are offering a 10% discount on it for the weekend. Starting now and going until Monday at midnight pacific time.  The discount code is: SST18

The picture about is our Loophole Cowl knit with Single Silk Targhee in our Heckley Speckley colorway!! A fast and super cozy knit!

HATS! HATS!! HATS!!!

Another quick gift knit are hats!! They are a fun knit and we can usually find something in our stash to use as we did here. The pattern is Rikke by Sarah Young, a very popular (free!) one from 2011.

I love the simplicity of this hat and how it looks good on pretty much everyone, even me! And… if you do not have DK-weight available, you can combine 2 yarns as we did, knit  together for some crazy-cool color play and a little texture!! We have put together 2 skeins of our Sock that Rock Lightweight to get gauge and combine two colorways that I found in our leftover mill end bin!! One is Heckley Speckley and I think the other is Sweet Dreams. Look at the magic these two colors are making knit together; and since you using 2 skeins you can get 2 hats out of this!!! So great.

We all have colorways in our stash that maybe do not speak to us as loudly as they did when we purchased them or don’t  know what to do with anymore. Combining those with other colorways is a great way to change us the color game without over-dyeing or de-stashing! Also, it’s a great way to balance color: toning down a bright color or brightening up one that needs a little spark. One could also use 2 different fingering-weight bases for a hat for a little pizzazz: one skein with some sparkle in it or one with a little texture…. So very many possibilities to keep our heads warm and pretty!

Meaghan has designed such a lovely cowl in our Plushy in the colorway Figgy Pudding. And right now she is offering a discount on the pattern and… when you buy the pattern she gives you a discount code for the yarn. I am intrigued by this pattern and how it will knit in other colorways like maybe Equinoxed or Dark Side of Blue Moon or… .

TWISTED PDX will be having a casting on the 1st Monday of December 3rd and Meaghan and I will both be there!!

I love creating color for our shops have you seen what I did for Coastal Yarns in Cannon Beach. It’s called Coastal Stormy Weather and is exclusive to them! Check it out.
