I was supposed to post this earlier this week about our La Luna yarns and the special on them that we are running. However I had a few people out sick so I was in the barn all week and by the time I was done answering emails and such after dyeing all day I just did not have it to blog. So here we are. We will keep the Special up for another week since I dropped the yarn ball on my end of the bargain.

As a reminder the special is on all three weights of La Luna which means there is something for everyone. The coupon code is: lalunalove  which is good until next Sunday and is good for 20% off.

Okay what is so great about La Luna. Well the first thing is that is a blend of silk and merino and not just any merino but a high grade fine merino. We love soft yarns and a fine merino makes a great soft yarn however that fineness also means that the if your yarn is not constructed well it will not wear well and could also pill and fuzz. Also the finer the yarn the smaller the scales and the scales are what dye adheres to so it also affects how it takes and keeps the color.  So let’s blend in some silk to give that fine merino a little more stability and strength and… a whole lot of shine. Always, in yarn construction it is about just the right amount of blending. How much silk is the right amount? You want to add just enough to support the merino which is what we have done with La Luna. And then we have spun and plied so it keeps it’s elasticity giving us great stitch definition. Also if knit more open just enough drape without slippage! All while retaining that softness!  A perfect blend of fibers spun to enhance their natural tendency’s!!

I truly love this yarn. I thought my favorite of the weights was the fingering weight but right now I am knitting with the DK and seriously loving the the feel of it as I knit and the fabric it is creating. A fabric that has a silky softness, a nice amount of ease and is making my knitting just shine!! Look at that color!!

Both La Luna Lace and La Luna Fingering are on the heavier ends of those weight spectrums. I wanted a lace weight yarn that was a little heavier since some of us are a little hesitant about using true lace weights but do love those lace patterns.

Pattern ideas!

La Luna DK: Pretty much any pattern that uses DK weight yarn. Here are two current patterns in RVS top 20.

These are just a few ideas. Really there are so many more. All three of these weights would make super cozy and wonderful hats. Do you know about Hats NOT Hate with Lion Brand and Brooklyn Boy Knits ?

Stand up to bullying! Knit a blue hate! Donate a Blue Hate! Post all over social media and spread the word and the vibe!! There’s plenty of time! La Luna would be the perfect yarn for blue hats! I am dyeing some Tardis Blue for my hats. Let’s have our won Team Blue Moon for Hats NOT Hate!!

Okay my friends the sun is shining and it is SUNDAY so I am going to spend sometime in the garden getting the indigo beds ready!
