It is our last weekend of our La Luna LOVE yarn appreciation Special and I have a few more thoughts and ideas to share with you.

One of the things I love about color and the dyeing of yarns that have silk blended in with the wool is how it takes the dye and displays the color. Because the silk is blended in with the wool the variation you see is subtle but it is still there. Often we won’t even notice it until we’ve knit with it. There is not a huge variation but enough to give the color a little extra depth which I think is way more interesting. Even if you dye it in one color  you are going to get some variation which means you won’t have a flat color but more of an alive interesting one.

And… if that were not enough. Since silk basically starts as a liquid it has that luminous reflective quality to it that is visually stimulating and adds yet another dimension to our color. Silk seriously is the gift that keeps on giving!! When you add in juts enough to utilize those qualities and at the same time supporting the Merino without taking any of it’s wonderfulness away well then, you have done your job!

La Luna in my opinion is that perfect marriage of two fibers blend into one stellar yarn!!

In Wednesday I got a text from Karen with a pattern link in it. I get these texts quite often actually which is great otherwise there is just so much I would miss since I have made head in a dye pot most of the time. Now there’s an image!

The link was to the Olive Leaf Pullover by Ririko which is totally Karen’s type of knit and wear. As you can see it is a stunning pullover.

I went to ravelry to check it out and kind of feel down the check out what’s new on rav rabbit hole. I found that there is also a Olive Leaf Cardigan by eri

Don’t you just love the stitch pattern detail on these two beauties? The designers are friends who decided to take the same stitch patterns and then each design sweaters. So…Karen and I are going to follow there friends theme and she is going to know the pullover and I am going to try the cardigan. Right now we are debating colorways. We both want to use Bladderwrack ont he Rocks. Too funny!!!

I think I might go with this new grey I have been mulling over. We’ll see. So which would you knit and what color would you choose?

oh…before I forget the code is: lalunalove and is for 20% off any of the three weights of La Luna and is good until the 8th of April.

Okay I am off to work on the color club and School of Yarn and maybe take a walk.

Have a good weekend!!!
