Shine on Harvest Moon!!
Up in the Sky!
Hey did you see that big beautiful Harvest Moon last night? I was worried that we would not see it since it was cloudy all day and then last night the clouds parted and there was that stunning golden lunar light! A great Friday the 13th!!
Here’s the color I made for our Harvest Full Moon. I wanted colors of harvest and Autumn. Luckily they share a lot of hues. Some of the brighter ones are hard to see but are there. I’m going to ball one up later today and cast on somethings just so I can see all of the colors. I am so excited for Autumn. So much color. The leaves have already started to turn colors here and the fields are full of pumpkins!!
I have added some of my favorite Autumn colorways to the website and will change them up in a few weeks along with adding some new ones.
Last week I announced our new yarn Corrie.
Our Corrie is a light an lovely fingeringweight 3 ply yarn spun with 75% Superwashed Corriedale and 25% Nylon. We are on a mission to expand and diversify our wool yarns! Corriedale is a lovely wool.
Corriedale sheep are widely farmed in New Zealand, Australia, Southern Brazil, the United States, Patagonia and Uruguay. It is the most popular breed of sheep in Uruguay. Corriedale was developed by crossing Leicester and Lincoln rams with Merino ewes during the late 1800s in both New Zealand and Australia.
A Corriedale fleece wool has a fiber diameter of 25 to 30 microns. On average, a mature ewe will produce around 4.5-7.7 kg wool with a staple length of 3.5 to 6 inches. Corriedale is not as fine a wool as Merino but it is fine enough! Our Corrie is soft and lofty and takes dye like a dream! I love the hand of this yarn and can see it in so many applications! I have knit a small swatch and to be honest I am loving this more than I thought I would.
Oh my goodness the loft and the elasticity. It’s bounce back is wonderful! The fabric I am getting is well defined in stitch, has a nice sheen and actually looks like wool. It’s also softer than I thought it would be so soft. We are really going to love this yarn. I am sending of a whole bunch of it to Karen for a sweater she is designing.

Since we are talking about wonderful yarns and pricing. I want to mention that in a few weeks we are going to be raising the price on Socks that Rock a bit. Our price has gone up quite a bit. We are going to absorb some of this cost for now but unfortunately can’t absorb it all. In exchange for this price raise we are getting more consistency across the board with our specs being met and our time-frames.
We’ve shipped out all of our pre-orders on our Moon Shadow project bags. We have a few left in stock if you missed and and need one for all of your blue moon sock knitting. I love mine. Queen Bee bags are the best and these are sexy as hell!!

Don’t you love it? A tunic with a great stitch pattern and wonderful lines and look at those pockets. I am a sucker for pockets!! Sandi is a wonderful designer and was out tech editor for quite a few years! She knows her stuff and it shows here!
