Today is the day! Sock Camp Spots are open to the general sock knitting public. Let’s all take a minute to appreciate and bask in the fact that there is a general sock knitting public. Ok so today Candice out wickedly wonderous webmistress is working her magic to make it so you can go into the Rockin’ Sock Club part of the Blue Moon site and sign up for an account and purchase your session of choice of Camp Cattywampus. There are more spaces available in Session 1 than 2 so… ready, set, go. Once you are signed up we will give you access to the camp forum. Since every picture does tell a story here are a few from past camps to give you a very small taste of what it is all about. (don’t be afraid)
Where campy antics abound.
Only at Camp can a sock knitter challenge her knitting skills with very odd “needles”. Hear which came first the egg or the chicken told by Bordhi & McPhee . A cockeyed tale or two acted out by our Camp players.
Sock Monkeys… Circles of friends knitting in the round...creatively outrageous knits accompanied by a tale and a laugh and maybe even a tear. and… your very own knit tribe!! Seriously.
Learning. Lots and lots of knit knowledge. Sock knit knowledge. We are very serious about sock knitting. You will be with your own kind. No one will look at you funny or not understand when you flash your socks or weep over a colourway. Nope not a sole.
If you want to come play with us. go here: Camp Cattywampus
Session 2 is almost full!!
Oh, how I wish I could go :D I love seeing all of the pictures though - they make me happy and feel like I could be there next year (maybe...if I find a higher paying job, lol).

Ah, the memories! The Sock Secret Service guarding the store! The fun and games...Creative fun, games and beings! And yes, we were The Monkeys! Always a great time and so sad I have to miss this year!

Oh! How much fun that would be! Alas… baby due in the middle. Doesn’t seem like a good idea to go. Next year!

Sad that I, again, can’t make it this year, but hope for all the 2010 attendees that a cloaca will be involved (somehow).

So many wonderful memories and looking forward to making many more. Hoping, begging, asking politely for someone to record what Cat and Stephanie come up with this year. Second session doesn’t get the joy of the dynamic duo this year.

I won’t be able to try the pleasures of Camp Cattywampus this year, but I just had to point out that there is a very small community in north Idaho called Clark Fork. The high school teams are called the Wampus Cats!

I SO wish I could go! I’ve always said I knitted Cattywampus and to know there is a camp for it is a delight! I will pray and save for it next year!

I second Alice’s request for a video of Cat and Stephanie, definitely one of the funniest pairs I have ever seen!!!!!!!! Unfortunately I have to miss for the second year in a row. Hubby says no job, no camp:(. Tyler wanted to meet all of you that he was listening to during Sock camp 2 (I was pregnant during camp). See you next year Tina and the socketeers!

Waaaa!!!! So not fair!!! I really want to go, but it’s so not gonna happen. One of these years, I will make it to sock camp. Until then, I’m just gonna pout. =0)

1001 Things I Hate About England, number 246: There are no cute Knitting Camps!!! But we do at least have a local Stitch n Bitch.
Small favour to ask:
Could all the organisers of knitting camps in the US and Canada please liaise in 2014 and arrange things so that if we travel round for a few weeks in a rental VWCamper we can attend a knitting camp at every stop?!!

Are you doing another sock conference in 2010?!?!?!?!?!??!?!!?

I laughed and laughed when I read your tribulations. I’ve been there a few times--you want to scream, but something inside makes you get stubborn and redo and go on because this thing isn’t going to get the best of you! The socks are beautiful.
