Happy Earth Day

It’s supposed to be a beautiful sun filled not too cold day. It’s true, I swear, I see sun breaking through the morning fog here now. As soon as I finish up some SS11 bizness that can’t wait, I am packing up my daughter Sophie and headed to the coast where my heart lives to visit my best friend the ocean.
It seems like it’s been forever so I am pretty excited.
I am going to take my shoes off and curl my toes in the probably pretty cool sand. I’m going to wade into the tide line and let the waves lap at my feet and bathe my toes.  I am going to walk as far as the tide will let me while the breeze blows my trouble away, clears my head and salts my skin. I’m going to chase the scummy sea weedy foam bubbles that the breaking waves leave behind I still find delightful.  I’m going to take tons of pictures of the cool but kind of gross sea creatures that I seem to obsessed with.  I’m going to be cleansed and inspired. I’m going to help with some of the earth day clean-up and…
I am going to feel humbled all the way down to my sand covered toes, privileged and so very blessed for every single moment that I get to call this planet in all her glory my mother. My home.
It seems to me that this planet takes awfully good care us and maybe just maybe we should be returning the favour in a much more zealous manner than we are.

One of my favourite quotes ever is the following from Chief Seattle of the Suquamish.

“Teach your children what we have taught ours, that the earth is our mother.
Whatever befalls the earth befalls the sons of the earth.
The earth does not belong to man; man belongs to the earth.
Man did not weave the web of life; he is merely a strand in it.
We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children.”

Happy Earth Day! Love your planet today!

Happy Earth Day!!!

Last week at the beach I found an old bottle with russian letters on it that the woman at the yarn store translated for me. It was grungy and sea-worn and tres cool. I also found a way cool light bulb (intact, no less) that was very large and had some kind of a shell lodged within its base!! I’m sure you’ll find many treasures!!

Have a great weekend!! Hi to Sophie! xo

Beautiful. Thank you for reminding me why I love the ocean (I need to make the short trek over the coastal range and just go!)

I went with a good friend on a day trip to the Columbia Gorge Saturday.  The weather was beautiful and the falls were all spectacular.  There were some places we didn’t stop because there was no place to park but we were able to see some gorgeous places.
