I just want to take a few minutes this morning before the SS09 craziness amps itself up to the level where not much else exists and thank JoAnn and tell her we love her.
JoAnn, a part of ST2 and Blue Moon’s customer service queen has been the person filling your lottery submissions. Actually JoAnn has been a very large part of registration since before it opened in May. A lot of you are probably already familiar with the awesomeness that is JoAnn. Those of you who have not had the pleasure of being helped by JoAnn here she is.
Isn’t she cute!
She is also helpful, kind and funny as hell. JoAnn will tell you that she is not a people person (she really loves animals, especially cats and furry burglars) and maybe she does not like to hang with lots of people all the time. I have not met many people that are so personally oriented to helping others as JoAnn is. One of the best part of the past few days is walking in to the barn to see how things are going and have her look up from screen all bleary eyed and say I just made another knitter very happy. Helping others, whether they have fur or not, makes JoAnn happy. JoAnn is one of those kind souls walking the planet that will quietly notice that the burden you are carrying is slipping and will gently sidle up beside you, lend her shoulder until you regain your ground and just as quietly walk away. She is probably not going to like me telling you this or singing her praises but honestly, neither Steph nor I want to even consider the past few months or the next few weeks without her. She is rockin’ this whole registration and lottery thing hard, long hard eye straining mind bending hours. Thank you JoAnn for being you. We love you a whole lot.
Hear! Hear! Thank you Joann! I know I have had email with her and she is awesome. I hope to meet her at the Sock Summit and thank her personally.

Having recently been relieved of my registration burden by the lovely Joann I can atest to her wonderous powers. I’m guessing she has an invisible plane and magic bracelets stashed somewhere.
I had an email crash where every email from May went missing. Permanenty missing. Including my Sock Summit registration confirmations. I called in to Blue Moon in tears. I knew that the confirmation number was all that stood between me and major Sock Summit disappointment. It would have been suck summit without Joann
Joann had me taken care of, since I had won a lottery class and paid. Although her system was down I had a new set of shiny confirmations the very next morning!
She did indeed make another knitter happy. Happy doesn’t begin to describe it.
Bless you JoAnn!!

Bosses who publicly thank and praise their employees can be a rare commodity. I have no doubt that one of your (many) skills is hiring good people. Some folks, however, hire good people then take all the credit for the work they do. (I worked for one--but not for very long!) Seems to me that you do a lot to help your staff help you by being supportive and gracious.
I have had nothing but positive experiences with each BMFA person I have encountered, including JoAnn. I’m happy to continue to knit with your yarn, attend your events, and support your company.

so it would maybe be too weird to walk up and give her a hug? So thankful for all that your teams are doing! This feels like the opportunity of a life time for my wee business. Thank you.

JoAnn Does Rock! She helped me complete my Sock Summit Lottery registration and I did not feel at any time like a “number” or part of an anonymous process. Thanks for starting my real Sock Summit journey as you did!

Amen to that! JoAnn is the best. I work in a client service orientated business and subconsciously try to follow her lead. Quietly help a client without complaining and then move forward.
BMFA, sock knitters and the whole knitting world is just that bit better and brighter because of her.
Thank you, JoAnn.

I also want to thank JoAnn. She helped me get a class and register for the rest of the doings for the sock summit. She has made the sock summit for me. Thanks for everything. Joan

Thank you JoAnn for everything you do!

I imagine the SS09 crew is made up a of a number of amazing folks like Joann. There’s probably not an adequate way to thank everyone involved in planning this event, but I’m going to try by having a balls-out fabulous time. Thanks for letting us get to know Joann better, and thanks for everything Joann. Counting down the days…

Thank you so much for everything! Don’t be too hard on Tina for telling us how great you are - many bosses wouldn’t take the time to do so.

*Blushes* Just a wee bit embarrassed over in this corner of the barn. Thank you Tina. Thank you Steph. Thanks to all of you. And thanks to Poppadoc. I’m very blessed to have all of you in my life!

PS is it sad or good that I recognize (and have read) most of the books JoAnn is buried in?
I just read all the very nice things said about JoAnn. It brought tears to my eyes. Yes, she is an amazing young woman and I am proud to say an amazing daughter. Love you.

JoAnn you Rock!!!!
JoAnn has helped me extensively in the last few days so that I am able to participate in Sock Summit. I’ve already threatened a great big hug if I see her there. I think the identifying pink hair should help immensely.

JoAnn is incredibly organized. She helped immediately when I cancelled a class for SS. Now could you lend her to the White House so we can fix this health care issue...!

I look forward to meeting her and all of you in person at SS09. I already told Joann I would recognize her by her halo--now I know what she looks like! Thanks and hugs, Eleanor

HI JOANN!!! <waves furiously>
You don’t know me, but I’m one of the knitters you made very happy. But I’m not biased! I could tell you would have been awesome to deal with even if you had been the bearer of bad news.
I absolutely loved being able to put a face to the name and voice (and awesomeness). Thanks Tina!
(And thanks, again, JoAnn. I hope I’ll get to say it in person next week.)

I have just returned from the Sock Summit and I have to say that Joann is everything you wrote Tina and more. I volunteered a few shifts at the registration desk across the weekend and I was so impressed with JoAnn and her blend of calmness, friendliness and stamina. She was the first person I saw each morning and the last one as I left the OCC each night. A huge shout out also to Lisa our fearless, friendly, shoeless volunteer leader. Thank you for a wonderful time.
