We are off and running with the first day of the first ever Knot Hysteria event. Kind of exciting, maybe kind of also a little bit nerve wracking but hey certainly exciting. You would think that after that whole Sock Summit thing that this would not be true but there you have it. A veritable walk in the park right? Thousand of knitters versus forty knitters. Certainly on the organizing stress’o’meter scale it does not compare. Still making something lovely and educational and fun and respectful so that everyone’s needs are met and their experience is positive does fall on someone’s shoulders and when you are organizer well… there you have it.
Soon Port Ludlow will be over run with knitters and this aspect we enjoy immensely. The staff here refers to us as “ the knitters” and some of them have even learned to knit because they think we are such a fun group. Julie showed us her first project last night and she was so proud and it was a beautiful scarf that was very, very well knit. We will need to hook her up with some better yarn though. hmmm I wonder how we are going to do that.
ok… Morgaine is waiting for our help to set up her booth so this is brief and mostly to tell you that today JoAnn is adding the spinning fibers to the website and the 15% off sale starts today and goes until November 18th (right JoAnn??) I couldn’t get to your event, being committed to the ballet in Toronto on the weekend. However, I did get to Lettuce Knit and talked to Denny and Laura and bought lots of yummy yarn and some more addi turbo lace needles. NOW!!! I’ve come home to a sale. Yikes! I wonder how much I can justify? I suppose justifiable or not, it won’t stop me. I hope you had a fabulous weekend. Cheers, Hazel.

Now that we’re out of ICU land (Craig and H1N1 don’t mix well) and in a regular hospital room I’ve decided I’m entitled to a bit of a treat. Thank you for timing your sale so I could get a couple extra goodies. Know you had a great time at the retreat. See you in April (I hope). Hugs, Alice

I called before the event with a general question, and the receptionist asked, “Are you with the knitters?” The retreat was just fabulous. The thought, organization, care and love that went into putting this together was more than obvious. Thank you both. And thanks to Debra and Steve who worked so hard and were so helpful and nice. Major props to you all!

Thought this might amuse you. My daughter is not a knitter, but has been the lucky recipient of many socks. She has learned enough that when I offered to make her some “glittens” she told me the yarn she wanted was fire on the mountain from blue moon (she has socks made from this colorway). when I pointed out that I needed to use yarn that was about 5 stitches to the inch, she said “mom, she makes more than sock yarn you know.” She promptly went to the website and ordered some BFL sport in the fire on the mountain colorway. This just kind of amused me because like I said she is not a knitter but apparently is clear on what is good fiber!!
