There has been so much piling up this week that I wanted share and have not got around to so here we go all in one fell swoop. Maybe I need to add this to Fridays. A sort of a reflecting on the week piece.
I have creating new colour this week or trying to. It is hard for me to this without a big chunk of time. Stopping and starting over and over and hey over again kind of messes with my mojo. So I did not get as much done as I wanted to. I did get the Ravelympics colourways done for Team Blue Moon. I could not stick to one. I thought there needed to be a multi and a shaded solid and I love them both but adore the shaded solid. They need names and I thought maybe you would like to name them so here is where we are leaning. Just post in the comments section in you agree or not and if you have another suggestion please let us know. There is not a whole lot of time for voting and all that so I think we will just go with the one that is repeated the most.
1> We have been calling it Team Blue.
2> Logo ( I know not proud)
So let us know. We will choose on Monday and put these up on the website Tuesday(19th).
Two of our favorite visitors came by this week. Hazel and her mom Shannon owner of Twisted in pdx. Sorry Shannon. You know I love you but Hazel well… you know I have a thing for your daughter. You can see why right?
Too cute for words.
I got to play with dye this week… love this part of my job a lot.
dear Aliceintheheartland sent Debra and Becky sockies which you can see they LOVE!!
Aren’t they purty?!
We have been putting the finishing touches on the Camp part of the Rockin’ Sock Club site. There is a small post and a link to info on the sock club blog if you are interested. It’s been a crazy busy week here at blue moon. It usually is and honestly at this point in time we will take it and feel grateful. Hope everyone has an awesome weekend. I plan on making more colour all by myself. WooHoo.
1. Vancouver Violet - and it’s BEAUTIFUL
2. Photo Finish (think downhill racing) - fun!

Love Love Love the colourways!! They are both so perfect! How can you take our imperfect, half-formed thoughts and wishes and transform them into such perfect works of art? You are amazing!
I love the name of the first one - Team Blue The second one I would call - Olympic Rings

Shaded Solid: Vancouver Violet! Multi: Canadian Colours (or Olympic rings)

Good heavens!! We must all have the same functioning brain cells. My first thought was, “That’s not blue, that’s violet” and then, “that looks like the olympic rings”. The baby is adorable, though I can’t believe that young mothers are beginning to use the name Hazel again. I was the only Hazel of my acquaintance for the first 65 years of my life.
And this is a question for Alice: What colourway did you use for the socks on the right(with the pink in it)?
Got my first package of Rare Gems today-Who!! Hoo!!! I hope the medium weights arrive on Monday. Cheers and red wine, Hazel.

I’m leaning toward Vancouver Violet and Olympic Rings.

Both of your color creations are beautiful Tina! Thanks for your special effort.
I like: Team Blue Photo Finish (I can see the blurry ski suit colors crossing the line)
I also love that Hazel is wearing what appears to be a Christmas Balls sweater. How very sweet.

Team Blue! Team Blue! or Team Blue Moon!
Love the colors, Hazel is such a cutie!!, and the socks! I’m going to think on the name for the second color!

I second the Vancouver Violet and Photo Finish.
As for Hazel nut, I just can’t get enough of her either Tina! Sometimes I have to remind myself that mom and dad like to be acknowledged when they are in the room too......I am sure they know we love them dearly too. They just don’t have those yummy cheeks and agiggle that makes your heart leap far and wide when she laughs.

#2 colorway: world united?

Definitely (1) Vancouver Violet, and (2) Olympic Rings!
Gorgeous colorways - both!

I agree with Vancouver Violet and Olympic Rings. Thanks and Great Job, Tina!

I see blue so I think Team Blue Moon would be the most appropriate name since that is who we are representing! I was leaning towards Olympic Rings, but then I thought Olympic Flame. Maybe it is the wrap of the skein with the colors that made me think flame. So, my vote is Team Blue Moon and Olympic Flame.
Hope you have a relaxing weekend!

Love Vancouver Violet.
According to Wikipedia, the logo’s name is Ilanaaq the Inunnguaq. Ilanaaq is the Inuktitut word for friend.

I vote for Vancouver Violet and Olympic Rings.

I love Vancouver Violet and the logos name! How could you get resist those names and naming a colourway with Inuktitut!
Awesome job Tina! LOVE LOVE LOVE!

Team Blue - the one that elicited a small {gasp!} from me.

Oh. Erm…
Would love to love the Team Blue name, but I /see/ Vancouver Violet on my screen. If the yarn actually is bluer than it looks (YMMV, yadda yadda) on my screen, my vote reverts to Team Blue.
Second colorway: Ilanaaq (JudyBecker is one smart woman!)

Oh wow, I hope I have time to buy the yarn before the 12th! Yes, definitely “Olympic Rings” for the multicolour skein.

My thought for the second, Parade of Nations… reminds me of the waves and waves of athletes coming in for the opening and closing.
posted by BethC Jan 16, 2010
Hmmmm.... How about Iced Violet or Glacier for the solid? I am having a hard time choosing between Olympic Rings and Photo Finish for the multi, but I think that I am leaning towards the rings. Beautiful colours and adorable knitter-to-be! have a great weekend! Kelly in Ottawa

I think the one on the left should be called “Vancouver” and the one on the right “World”...just my 2 cents! They both look great though! Can’t wait to get started with Team Blue Moon!

1. Team Blue Moon and I would like some ASAP please. 2. Olympic Rings or Ilanaaq.

Vancouver Violet
And, (oh, good thought about the copyright issue) Photo Finish.
But I agree “Ilanaaq” is a brilliant idea, just I wouldn’t know how to begin to pronounce it....

Really like Logo 2, makes me think of Spring..the yummy yellows ia just the ticket. Now Violet..knowing the Olympics are just up the coast and all..I think Shrinking Violet would fit. Of course, in Texas our Blue Bonnets come up in the fields in the Spring.. Think of Wild Flowers, the are so delicate and pretty.

I also like “Vancouver Violet”. Or ... maybe “Oregon Blue Lilac”. The copyright issue with “Olympic” adds a challenge. I rather like “Olympic Rings”. It is a really good match to the colorway in my opinion. I must note, however, most of the comments I found seem to reference the copyright being on the ring emblem: “The Olympic Insignia Protection Act (1987) protects the Olympic torch design, the Olympic rings, the Olympic motto ‘citius, altius, fortius’ (or faster, higher, stronger) and various associated images by providing for them to be registered as designs owned by the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC).”
I didn’t find any copyright comments regarding the phrase “Olympic Rings”. But...I’m definitely not a copyright attorney… Regardless of the eventual names - the colorways are lovely!

Joining the herd for Vancouver Violet and Olympic Rings.
Don’t think you’ll have copyright issues as you are not using the symbol and to the best of my knowledge the Olympic Mountain range is right next door. (I’m not that big on geography but I know the DD InLaws house overlooks the Olympics and that’s Bainbridge WA) So it could always be a tribute to that. I intend to buy both.
As to the colors of the socks. Deb is wearing Plankton Ooze and Becky is wearing camp dyed yarn in my “not so favorite” colors. Hey Becky seems to like them so they went to a good home. Now to try to get another set done for camp.
Gee Judy Becker I didn’t know the ring symbol had a name. Wow. I’ll stick to Olympic rings and my illegal self made flag to fly when the games are open.

[friendly hijack for Alice] The Vancouver logo, not the Olympics ring logo, is named “Ilanaaq”, or “friend”. There’s a pic in the right-hand column here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2010_Winter_Olympics . [end hijack]
