Why I love Camp a photo essay.

well there’s all the SOCK KNITTING!

…and everyone there thinks it is not only normal but kind of wonderful to make a sock colour wheel.

Have you met the Sock Whisperer?

Knitters… so many lovely knitters. ( the knitters are my favourite part)

Chickens

Crows

Monkeys

and yes Crabs.

Maybe wee bit of silliness.

and lots and lots of learning and challenging our knit perceptions

Also Cat and Steph in their constant attempt to torture the hell out me with using and transforming their first camp project “ the Chicken and the Egg” into whatever creative camp assignment for the year is instead of coming up with a new like everyone else.

Can’t wait to see what the slackers lovelies come up with this year. After all the camp homework is all about the boobies ladies.

So those are some of my favourite moments.

Any of you campers want to share yours please feel free.

See you soon!!

  1. I loved the Knitter’s Jeopardy! With prizes of Chocolate Crab Poop bestowed with fairy wands and all.  How can you go wrong?

After setting out to the Other coast by myself for a knitting vacation, not knowing a soul except by email, it was the best self-rejuvinating experience this mother of four has ever had.

Time is flying! So camp will be here soon. I think it will be a fun filled adventure and I really like the looks of the laughter and the tent.

Camp was the first place where I really felt I was among my people.  And I met the most amazing people there.  And learned so much.  And was astounded and inspired by the amount of intelligence, creativity, and dedication to our craft.  It was some of the best 5 days I have ever had.  I am so unbelievably sad that I can’t make it this year.

  6. Titties knitted, check, thinking about knitting to pack, check, airline ticket, check. I think I’m ready. I can hardly wait.

    See you soon.

  7. My favorite moment was the Underwater Knitting Olympics! I don’t think I’ve ever laughed that hard! I can’t wait for April!

  8. Looking across the crowded “Opening Reception” room and having you spot me out, come towards me with the thrill and warmth of our first meeting-and getting my first Tina hug!

Definitely the underwater knitting olympics!  And the storytelling.  And the Cat and Steph banter.  Discovering the depth, warmth and cleverness of Cat Bordhi!

Riding the ferry over to Orcas Island with a bunch of other campers…on the way there and back!  And being able to spot my fellow campers by the sock knitting in their hands!

TP Relays, Sock Monkeying around, Announcement, Announcements, Annou-ounce-ments!  Chappy shaking her groove thing.  Being a human buzzer.  Being Cookie’s other half!

The FOOD at Port Ludlow!  The beauty of Puget Sound.  The kind of camp where I didn’t want to cut out on ANY of the activities!

And yes, the counselors and the campers-my fellow aficionados!

Thanks, Tina, for such an absolute dream of a good time!  So sad to miss this year…

  9. Oh, the above made me so camp-sick: I’m very glad that there’s a sure-fire remedy, in that I will be BACK AT CAMP in several short weeks!

(And, eep!, Ana’s making me feel like a slacker.  No boobies completed here.  Though I have been thinking hard about them, even a few minutes ago *before* reading this!  I have plans!)

I did do a double-take on seeing under “Challenges” a familiar Ravelry scarf/nametag/dowel rod and whatever the heck that thing was that you guys gave me to knit with in the “I Can Knit With Anything” contest.  (Why does this smack of Cockeyed to me, rather?) Did you know that I broke it in half, in my race to second, finishing behind my dear Cece?  (I’m so glad she’s coming to session I, I can’t wait to see her.)

Well, yah, I can’t wait to see everyone. It was even fun to call Port Ludlow for reservations and have them sound all excited to have the knitters again!

    Sock Camp Rocks!
