Takin’ it to the Streets

The sock club will be live sometime after noonpst. Sorry to be vague but we are trying to keep the load on the server doable.

We have built a new system. You will be creating a Rockin’ Sock Club account.

So you will go to sight fill in a few pieces of info with your email being the most significant one.

You will be sent an email with a password and link. In order to make sure you get this in a timely manner make sure that

is in your mail client’s address book. This will help keep us from ending up in your junk mail folder or spammed out altogether.

You will then use this link to change your password to one you want and can remember and then you will purchase the member ship of choice and follow the directions.

You will get a receipt when done and a Welcome letter from us.

If you have been given a gift certificate we will be sending you an email as we go live that will direct you.

thanks

As always if you have any questions or concerns please contact us.

Oh Tina, having just finished listening to Saturday Afternoon at the Opera where Renee Fleming, my favourite soprano, was interviewed and sang several selections from her newest cds, I was a tad buloversee by the You Tube clip. You can tell how old I am when I say I don’t know who is singing(Jan P mentioned JT-is that James Taylor?????). I’ve at least HEARD that name. Like Mary, I’m very excited. Only 2 more sleeps until I can join the Rocking Sock Club and the World Domination Tour. Are you excited too or are you just too busy getting Rare Gems and Sock kits ready for shipping??? I can hardly wait-it’s worse than Christmas. Cheers and red wine, Hazel.

    Oh Dear,

I just realized that I am working till 6 am on the 4th..Can I order

after midnight here or do I have to wait till Pacific time?  What if I

    don’t get a spot?

I meant to ask before also, can we use Paypal to pay with?  I was

    just wondering…

Also this is probably not the spot to ask but would STR mediumweight

be better for a pair of man’s socks inside motorcycle boots, and would 2

skeins be enough for someone with size 13 feet?  He is sort of skinny

too so I am thinking about using the stitch count for a woman’s large

foot?  Any advice…I wish I had a knitter friend that I could call

    here..

    Happy New Year everyone,

    To Val–

I knit lots of women’s slim width 10.5-11 (Euro 42-43) size socks, and I often use a stitch count from a size medium or small to start at the ankle or toe.  That keeps the socks from falling down, as they do with size large.  I change between different stitch counts for different parts of the sock with some patterns.  But, one more thing you need to check is the LARGEST part of the foot, which you could measure by running the tape measure from the front of the ankle and all around the heel.  That is the largest dimension over which the sock must stretch.  If you are knitting from top down, check that with the actual foot to make sure.  Ribbing is good for boot socks.  You also want a firm, tightly knitted fabric for boot socks.  (It will depend on what widths the boots ARE that he can get in size 13.  I’ve got shoe issues, too, due to narrow feet.)

I think the stitch count for the women’s large may not be enough, myself.  The men I know with size 13 feet are six foot plus in height.  Their hands and feet are just a lot larger in bone structure, usually, even though they are “sort of skinny”.  This is not a project that would be good as a “surprise”, because some swatching and trying on could be a good thing.  Definitely go with the two skeins, because you can get a pair of women’s size 10.5-11 plain ribbed boot sock out of ONE skein STR medium, but with little or nothing left.  (I made them in Rock Star, but most men won’t care for that colorway.  Mine would fit a men’s size 9 narrow.)

Is the site crashing? I keep getting “domain not found”. VERY FRUSTRATING and probably for Tina and crew if this is what is happening. I just want it on record that I have checked in 4 times so far and haven’t been able to purchase a membership yet. Should I buy myself a gift certificate(LOL)?

I’m going to sign up……eventually. Want to wait for a certain coupon and to see how Debra and Becky like the socks. Sent them today. Should be there by the end of the week. More excited about hopefully getting a spot in sock camp. Give everyone a hug for me. I gave Toni and Nan hugs for you on New Year’s. Lessons on spinning start for me in 2 weeks. Looking forward to my 4th year. So glad Stephanie decided to join up again. Seems like a no-brainer. Maybe we STR folks need to remind her to kit the kits kind of like she gets reminders that Tuesdays are for spinning. Happy Dyeing dear depravedDyer. I love ya’ Hugs, Alice
