“It’s my party and I’ll dye what I want to!”
It’s bright and happy and fun!!

All three things I am looking to add more of into my life this year!! It has speckles and droplets and then slashes of color through out with just enough white space to showcase it all!!  I am pretty tickle with it! I am balling up a skein to take with my to Port Townsend this weekend for my birthday vacation with my buddies and the ocean!! ( Excited!!)

We are also celebrating with a SALE!!

All yarns and roving from this very moment until midnight Pacific time on the 30th will be 15% off!!!

One of the best ever birthday presents is the release for this movie this weekend!! So excited!! And as promised! Your SOLO colorways! I started our Star Wars color tribute with the theme of this story since it is a prequel! It was a bit of a challenge. It’s truly not that easy to dye a skein of yarn to look like a space ship.

I have been trying to pick a favorite and I fluctuate between Chewie and the Falcon but also Lando… .  I love that little bit of bright yellow popping out of all of those darker saturated hues! Stay tuned for lots more Star Wars themed colorways.

Our contest winner are:  Alice, Karen, KT34, Leann and Kellie. We will be emailing you next week for address verification. Or if you like you can email us @info@bluemoonfiberarts.com

Okay so a few more things we have going!

Our fab new yarn Soft Rock is up!! I do love this yarn!

Soft Rock is a light fingering-weight 2 ply yarn made from the same fiber base that we use for our beloved Socks that Rock yarns! Our goal was a yarn that had a lot of the wonderful attributes of our signature sock yarn, but with a little less of a twist and a little more drape. Since our goal with Soft Rock is not a sock yarn, we can lighten up on the the twist of the ply which gives us a more relaxed yarn for shawls and cowls and such!! Soft Rock still has a nice elasticity and also rocks, just not for socks!!

Tomorrow is Mother’s Day which can be hard for some of us. I lost my mom a few years ago which honestly was harder than I thought it would. My mom and I had a difficult relationship. Still…she’s my mom which is a powerful thing.

On this day I celebrate the essence of mothering in all of us. I feel the void and grief because my own mother has donned her wings. I send out compassion and love to all of my friends and loved ones who have also lost their mothers which makes this day so very hard. I send so much love and peace to all of us displaced and motherless children, maybe we can mother each other a little bit more on this day!

I also bask in the light and love of the four glorious souls ( Narayan, Rabia, Sophie and Candace) that call me mom. There is nothing that I have loved more in my life than being their mom.  (Oh geez… I made my self cry.)

I get to take my collaboration with Valori Wells to Quilt Market!!!! So very excited!

Also we have a few new yarns coming your way so stay tuned for those.

Have a great weekend!

Color dreams do come true!!

Introducing Marmalade Dreams!! Valor Wells, stunning Spring Summer Collection

and also… the collaboration between her and Blue Moon to introduce yarns that have been dyed to match her palette and pattern design!!!!

So… I have been dreaming for awhile (years) of creating color schemes based of fabric designer launches. There are so many fabric designers whose work I love and respect. I have always thought that dyeing yarn to within the palette and pattern scheme would be a great cross platform design opportunity for us knitters, crocheters, weavers, quilters and sewists.  There just seemed to me to be such a rich and varied canvas to work within. I mentioned this idea of mine in February of this year to the oh so talented Valori Wells ( such a creative and talented designer) in Sisters Oregon ( yes, THAT Valori Wells!!! )

Anyway she was as over the moon about this concept as I was and it was something she had also dreamed of.

Creative dreamers do find each other!

Anyway this Spring and this lovely collection mark her 40th collection!! I know…amazing! I am thrilled to be working with Valori on this project. It is still a work- in -progress. We are swatching and adjusting color, naming them and all the good things!  Valori will have it for sale at her store Stitchin’ Post in Sisters Oregon. If you are one of my yarns stores you can purchase these and we will most likely also be selling it! We will be at Quilt Market in May here in Portland with it! Yay!!!!

Okay stay tuned, there will be so very much more!

I need to post this an go feed the dog or she is going to burst something and then I am going to have to clean it up.

Valori I can’t thank you enough for this opportunity to work with you!

Truly a dream come true!!

Also I feel like I have made a lifelong friend which I so cherish!

I am a HUGE Star Wars fan, nerd, geek, freak…whatever you want to call it. So this is one of my days! And add in the May release of the new movie that looks to be packed with all kinds of wonder. I’m so excited. Solo!!!! Seriously!!!  Okay so with all of this love it’s quite amazing that I do not have one Star Wars colorway, not a one my friends. What is with that. I think my love is so huge I’m a little afraid of not doing it justice and letting my Star War heroes down… maybe? I going with that, it feels right.  Obviously this needs to be rectified and equally as obvious is that I’m going to need some help. So my knitterly  friends who are maybe as Star War obsessed ( you know you are) as I am ~ let’s do this.

Please in the comments section here share with me one of your fav Star Wars movies, moments, heroes, villans….anything goes. I will need a description that shares what speaks to you so I can capture that in color with yarn. I would like to release these before the movie comes out so… we do not have a whole lot of time. ( I do not have a whole lot of time.) Actually…I just remembered I have done a Vader colorway! We will not discuss that this is the only one I have done. It says nothing about me at all! ( lol) It was for Eat Sleep Knit.  Anyway… .

Please share. If I pick yours to create you will get a skein of what we come up with together!! Yay!! I have a full dye staff now so this will happen!!! If you do not want to comment you can send me an email at info@bluemoonfiberarts.com. Please title it Star Wars in the subject line of the email. Thanks for your creative input! I so appreciate it! I do love creating color together. If we could get these in by Wednesday of htis coming week that would be all kinds of awesome!
