I might have a problem…
….just a wee little one, I think, Although I believe Rosie is of a different opinion.
Rosie: ‘hey Tina did you take that yarn that was on the table?” Me: “Maaaaybe.” Rosie, as she walks over, takes yarn back and looks me sternly in the eye: “ I thought we agreed. You could take yarn from the wall as long as you put it back, but you can’t touch yarn on the table, without asking.” Me: I was going to put it right back. I only need it for the briefest of seconds, because look Rosebud… it’s the perfect match up with Pond Scum and Neptune.”
Rosie (as she puts arm around my shoulders): “It’s beautiful Tina and I usually find this part of you quite fetching but… maybe, just maybe, this can go back to being the thing you do at night when you can’t sleep and we’re not here. ok?” Me: I guess.
So… because I love Rosie, knitters and life, and I’m paying her to get a job done in an efficient timely manner, I have reined it in. taken to scouring the barn for colour combo’s in the middle of the night when there are no witnesses.
There are not enough hours in the day. As you can plainly see you could put these three together and see how well Pond Scum, Ciruela and Ursula play?
But what if if you take the Ciruela and replace her with Mulberry?
or… put Mulberry with Marina and Smoke on the Water.
…and then Marina spots her hue-mates Lunasea and Tempest and goes off with them while Bittersweet joins Mulberry and Smoke.
You see my my problem right?
Meanwhile… my shawl looks like this:
While Deb’s shawl looks like this:
So much colour… so little time!
I add in the second colour today. I’m so very excited.
ps. Yes there are a few new colourways there and they will be on the website this week.
We have joining our shadey solid crew: Marina, Neptune, Ciruela, Mulberry, Grasshopper, Spores, Everyday Grey and Ursula.
Multi-Colourway Lissa will also be sneaking in.

oooh I don’t know how you can get anything done at all. I am going to the web site to -ahem-browse…
what would go well with am
Aha!! I knew Pond Scum was going to show up in your combos at some time. It is the weirdest thing. There is nothing, nor has there ever been a colour even remotely close to Pond Scum in my wardrobe or my environment (the one I control, I mean) and yet I am so drawn to this colour and just want to knit everything with it. My Colour Infection starts with Pond Scum in Seduction and even though I have frogged this at least 4 or 5 times trying to get the edging right and changing the second colour (it is now Blush in Seduction), I am loving having it slip through my hands as I knit each stitch. It will be interesting to see if I actually wear it. Or if I will eventually have knit enough things out of Pond Scum to then suddenly discover that I have a complete wardrobe of Pond Scum accessories just begging to be incorporated with what I already own. I think Pond Scum is sneaky…
Knitterly Blessings,
CrystalBelle
OK, you gotta tell us what are those three colorways in the right most picture, after “you see my problem, right?” They are GORGEOUS!!
Yay, shaded solids!
I got 3 colors for myself that I’m now now sure if I’m happy with… So I started one for my mom with 3 different colors. And it’s so great that now I want to steal it from her. (Malabrigo Lace in white, fuchsia and black.)
Oooops in my rush to post before meeting I forgot to list these. Thanks for pointing it out Kassia. Starting from the staring at screen left we have:
Blecker, Bittersweet and Aubergenius
Blecker, Dark Shadows and Aubergenius
and last but most certainly not least (My fav here.)
Spores, KawKaw and you guessed it Abergenius (or Porcini or Jasper or…)
I LOVE this side of you!
You’re the nicest little yarn matchmaker I know (and such a gentle pusher too….look at this silkie that you looked at during Camp. The chickies have walked all over it with their pond scummy feet. Okay, perhaps that didn’t happen with the real-life you, but Inside-My-Brain Tina definitely told me that). I foresee an order containing silkie STR, maybe some EOS, maybe some BFL, a chickie, and perhaps several patterns
(okay, I have to hit submit now before I actually try and buy things before my tax refund comes in. I’ll be back soon…actually, how much does it cost to just buy the barn??)
You do make me laugh. And what a midnight playhouse you have!
I’ve been doing the same thing since the very first day that the Color Affection pattern was posted on Veera’s website. I pick up yarns in threes. Yarns I have no intention of buying or that are inappropriate weights or whatever, I just pick up yarns in threes, then replace one color or another, but always clutching three.
Love what your Silkie is doing.
So, between Camilla P., Hazel, and your photos, I’ve been hit with the “I must choose three colors” disease. I almost placed an order today (from work even) but managed to hold back for just a wee bit until I can a) look through my stash and b) get my ducks in a row to place a larger order …
But—yowza. What I wouldn’t do to have my three (Valkyrie, Winter Solstice, & Smoke on the Water) in hand RIGHT NOW.
Cheers!
You have a nice collection of yarns here. I love the colors.. Hmm.. might as well collect all those.. What do u think?
Sarah, Sarah, Sarah!!!! I laughed out loud when I read your colour choices. I absolutely KNEW that was the combination you’d choose-well, I knew Smoke on the Water would appeal and be one of the 3.
I have the same sickness. There’s no cure, but to enjoy it!
I agree, you do have a problem, let me know if you need an intervention, I can bring chocolate
So, two solids and one multi-color? I’ve been searching colors in my BMFA stash, but don’t have that many solids.
Please, please, please,
On the full table shots, what is the combination on the lower left?
It is just what I am looking for! It is similar to the Marina, Lunasea, Tempest combination (which is a close second in the running) but the teal is darker and the light shade is more of a blue grey.
