Trick or Treat?

Smell my feet give me something good to knit?! Does that work?  I think it does but it has been pointed out to me that I am free and easy with the essence of poetic license.

It’s HALLOWEEN!!!

Happy Halloween all you ghouls and goblins. In honor of all that is Hallowed we have a few tricks up our sleeves. Just a few not many. It’s way too busy in the dye barn for too many. We  have added a dyer and a new production person. Welcome Sarah and ~ wait for it cause it’s really awesome ~ Teena Fay.  We’re pretty tickled!! We’ll see how the two Tina thing in the barn works out.

The poem below is your hint.  It’s a bit of a where’s the skein game. I think the poem is pretty clear so I am not going to give more clues because we know knitters are very very smart. I always think these games are going to take forever and we’ve been all sneaky and then one of you gets it in 5 minutes. Oh…although on the one you have to find it and guess it’s name. Ok that was probably too much.

Paula and I will keep posted on this all day and if it looks like it’s too hard we’ll give you more clues.

The first 3 knitters to get our two tricks wins a spooky skein of their choosing.

You can submit your thoughts here in the comments section. We fixed the problem we had during last weekend’s contest so it all works well and good. I had it tested a bunch to ensure this was true.  If you have any problems you can always email your guesses to us at info@bluemoonfiberarts.com. We prefer the comment section though cause it’s more fun for us all.

Happy Halloween Have fun!!!

All Hallowed Cluckers

So…it’s almost Halloween which is my all time favorite holiday. In honor of all that is spooky, creepy and fowl we thought it would be fun to add to the website –  for a limited time –  (November 1st) every single one of our chicken themed colorways. It’s been awhile since I’ve looked at them as a whole. There are quite a few.  I don’t think we have offered them as a flock before. As you can imagine, being the fan of all that’s fowl, I am pretty excited.

Paula and I decided we should also make it one of our contests.

Look it’s a chicken parade!

“We’re bawwk…. . Bawwk, Bawwk,  back for a spin around the Blue Moon garden of color.  Some of us haven’t been around for a very long time, can you find us?  We’re only here for a short time, take one or more of us home for your very own.”

The first five of you lovely knitters to name all of our chicken colorways get a skein of Socks that Rock in the weight of your choosing and the colorway of your choosing. Please post your your list here in the comments of this post.

Paula, Becky and I share the love of All Hallows Eve so for the whole next week until the 31st we’ll having some tricking and treating here on the blog. Do stay tuned.

Wait until you see what Paula has cooked up for us. It’s a hoot.

If you are attending the very last SOAR have a great time. If you see Toni Neil of The Fold giver her a fibery squeeze for me!

Also check out another colorway naming contest we have going with Knitty!

Ok off to carve a pumpkin!

NOTE: I am so very sorry to all of you who tried to set up a new user registration this morning and did not get the email confirmations.  We are still working out the kinks from the server migration earlier this week and evidently this is one of them. We disables the email confirmation for the weekend so you can just register now. If you tried this morning you will have to again later. If you emailed in your answers we will use those emails and they are time stamped so no worries. I really ma very sorry about the frustration this cause for anyone.

Sheep and Wool

As almost every knitter on the planet knows this weekend is the New York Sheep and Wool Festival which means hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of fiber folk will be descending into Rhinebeck New York for all kinds of wooly fun. I’m only slightly jealous. (yeah right?)

It’s been great fun hearing about everyone’s sweater projects.  I can’t wait to see pics of them all. This morning I watched Gale Zuckerman’s video of the pictures she’s taken over past few years of all the sweater glory at Rhinebeck.  If you have’t seen it it’s worth a watch. It’s quite wonderful.

As I mentioned last week we have a very special colorway that I created just for Rhinebeck this year. Little Bo Peep will be at The Fold’s booth(Building B booth 32/33 ) for as long as supplies last. Along with as much color wonder as we could cram into Toni’s trailer.  I do believe we sent her all of the new colors!  We are selling Little Bo Peep on the website this weekend in case Toni runs out and also, for those of us who can’t attend.

Toni has all kinds of fun and beautiful samples with her. One of the new ones is a shawl in our Marine Silk Sport that is particularly lovely.

So very pretty!!

I love these color combination Sarah and Toni came up with.  Elegant and classy!

I hope everyone attending Rhinebeck has a grand ol’ time. For everyone else we’ll be running a special on Marine Silk Sport if you’d like to give Sarah’s Port Moody a knit. I love the name of this shawl so much.  It might be that I am living in a house brimming with young women at the moment that I feel like I’m moored at Port Moody.  The sale commences now and will go until Sunday night at midnight (Pacific time). For some strange reason, yet unknown reason, we could not get out coupon code system to work this morning so we just took the 10% off the regular price. So the discount has already been taken off. You don’t need to type in a code.

If we don’t have it offered in one of our colorways that your heart desires, do let us know. As always I am your color servant and am available to help you choose hues. info@bluemoonfiberarts.com

We successfully migrated all of our stuff to a new server.  A HUGE thanks to Narayan and the great folks at BlackMesh for making it so and to Jess and Paula for testing the knots out of it. Thanks guys!

It’s still a great shawl!

Back to business…

My goodness what a whirlwind of a few weeks it’s been.  In my experience this is always true about September. No matter how long or hard we prep for what we know is coming our way, it still seems to get the best of us. Maybe that’s just what September needs. Who knows.

Yesterday we got all of sock club out ( late. sorry! ) and most of what Toni needs for Rhinebeck ( right on time) out the door. I am sure the lovely folks at our local USPS were quite thrilled with us. (Note to self: Drop of baked goos at PO later today.)

Before I tell you all the goodness that is coming our way I’d like to say thank you.

We have been short handed for the past two weeks.  So… as we do here at Blue Moon, everyone chipped in to make sure this all worked. I got to rinse and hang yarn which is a job here I truly love. You’ve not truly lived until you are drenched, head to toe, in wooly vinegar water.

Thank you my dearest Team Blue Moon (Becky,Debra,Charlotte,Paula and Denise) for being the kind of team  that you are. Also thank you for putting up with my sadness.I know I have not been the best company lately.

I would also like to say thank you to my daughter Rabia for stepping in wherever, whenever and however I needed her in the past month. I don’t know what I would have done without her and at this point am thankful that I don’t need to know.

I would also like to say thank you to the wonder and loveliness that is Shannon, JJ and Jen for lending me their very capable helping hands and compassionate hearts. You are the best!

Lastly I would like to thank all of you that have sent me so very much love and support. I feel truly blessed by the people in my life which luckily for me includes knitters!

************

Ok…let’s talk about yarn and color and all that is coming down the road for us in the next little bit.

Rhinebeck ( New York Sheep and Wool ) is right around the corner and as usual Toni Neil of the Fold will have quite an array of our yarns and spinning fibers. Lots and lots of new colorways  and some old ones that we drug out the vault. There is also a brand new one just for Rhinebeck. I was so inspired by hues the graphic this year that I made a special 2013 Rhinbeck colorway. We are pretty tickled with it here and hope you will be too. My intention was to have  you all name it but… Paula came up with such a good name for it that I could not resist it.

Meet Little Bo Peep…

LittleBOBeep

She has lost her sheep and does not know where to find them.  So we are sending her to Rhinebeck to find her flock.

Little Bo Peep will be with Toni Neil at the Fold booth with all kinds of goodies in Building B booth 32/33 .

We are very excited to be adding to our Blue Moon family of LYS’s this month Simply Socks Yarn Company!! I am very excited. I met Allison years ago at Sock Summit 2009. She was one of our generous sponsors. Allison and I hit it off immediately so I am especially happy that I get to work with some I respect as a business woman and enjoy as a person.  We’ve been having so much fun figuring out what she is going to carry and how.  I am sure we are going to cook up all kinds of knit fun.  As I type this what keeps running through my head is that line from spell-chant from the three witches in Macbeth, “Double, double toil and trouble; fire burn and cauldron bubble.”. Like I said, it’ll be great fun seeing what we pull out of our cauldrons.

We are staring our Holiday Knits Specials this weekend. We are starting with one of my absolute favorite yarns that we carry Luscious Single Silk ( LSS ).  So very, very soft. As much a pleasure to knit with as it is to wear.  You want this right next to your skin, especially around your neck. If I knit a quick gift ( bad planning on my part) LSS is my go to yarn. I have kit many a holiday gift with LSS. Starting this Thursday at midnight and going until Sunday at midnight LSS is 15% off.  You will need a coupon code to get that discount. The code is weheartlss  and there will be a place to type that in on your order when you get to the end of the form.

Our friends at Twisted PDX have generously offered a discount on some of their wonderful patterns that use LSS. These are a talented bunch of knitters and designers so don’t miss out on the opportunity on a great pattern yarn duo.

Their coupon code is also weheartlss which gives you a dollar off any of the following patterns until October 31st.

Thank you team Twisted!

PS: Oh my I almost forgot. Amy and Jillian have a surprise coming next week so be sure to look out for it. Should be around the 15th.
