We need names!
Here are 3 of the new colourways going up on the website on Tuesday. My brain is name cramped and they need to be appropriately titled.
So whatcha think?
All thoughts and ideas are welcome and then we’ll do a blue moon vote on Monday, and you’ll get to see who they are on Tuesday.
Hi there I’m colourway #1. I know, how droll. Please find me a better name, I’m beggin’ ya here.

Excuse me, colourway #3 here. What are those two on about? Seriously, try being third guys. Besides I’m such the better colourway.
See… they’re a mouthy bunch not easy to name at all.

#3 Woodfire Flame-and I can’t wait to get my hands on this one. I LOVE it.

#3 My Ray of Sunshine
#1 – Roller Girl Bruises
#2 – Down in the Bayou

The third colorway reminds me of a volcano. The appropriate name for that would be “Garmendia”. So that’s my suggestion. So pretty! (And it helps that it’s one of my best friends last names.)
I love them all and they make me happy. Which is also how I feel about Glee. So of course I think they all need Glee song names.

3. U Can’t Touch This or Safety Dance
1. Mmm Berries!
2. Cottage Garden
3. Sweet Sangria
#1 America in Love
#1 Raspberry Fool – yummy dessert.
#2 Lilac’s Revenge.
#3 My name just has to be Hobie’s Flame and there is a story attached:
The last, oh, so reminds me of the colors of the sail atop a Hobie Cat (catamaran) sailboat. The sail’s colors were, not surprisingly, called Flamer (Did you know that sailboats had colorways? – this was originally called Flamer, I think) I have so many amazing memories of watching those ‘cats flying hulls in the steady breeze that funneled through the valley onto the lake where my family spent every summer weekend. The best wind was in in the hour before sunset, and it was pure magic to see those colors cast against the sky that held the same colors, slowly fading to a deep violet… When I was older I learned to sail those ‘cats – an amazing (and bruising) adventure.
Sorry for the long post, but it brought back some wonderful memories!
Oh wow! They are just beautiful, Tina! The first three names were sort of redundant: mine, mine and mine. However after some careful thought I came up with some better ones:
1. Leaky Snocone (Can’t you just see these colors melting over the ice?)
2. Plum Diddly (Rock On!)
3. Fingerpaint Sunrise (Stick one finger in each color like a kid and slide it across the paper!)
But after the naming process I still think they will be mine, mine and mine!
1. Bumbleberry Pie—Yeah. Not original. (see above) But it fits!
2. Dawn’s Early Light—from the 1st verse of our national anthem. As soon as I saw this colourway, those words popped into my head.
3. Red Sails in the Sunset—I know. I know. It dates me. But that is the title of an old song that my parents loved…they played that record FOREVER! Was so glad I sat on it! LOL
Here are a few ideas so far….
For color #2, how about, “I Lilac It. I Really, Really Lilac It.”
For color#3, I have a couple of ideas. Either, “Hot, Hot Heat,”
or my fav, “630 to 750 Nanometers.” The “630 To 750 Nanometers” because red’s visible by radiant energy with wavelengths of approximately 630 to 750 nanometers. From Tina’s picture it looks like this skein has covered every possible red variation from 630 to 750 nanometers.
Or another name for #3, “Speecy Spicy”
1. Puppy Love for the bright pink colors and darks that can only be the emotional highs and lows of Puppy Loving.
2. Grandma’s Attic. The colors bring to mind the love and coziness of the blankets my grandmother would always crochet and give to her childrens’ families.
3. Raspberry Sorbet. It’s smooth, it’s creamy, it has a lovely tang to it.
Hmmm…. Ok, I probably need to go to bed now, but what about (for #1) “Purple Erple Doodle All Day”
Ok, ok, I swore I was going to stop for tonight, but what about, for #1, “Raspberry Beret” (you know, the kind you’d find at a second hand store.)
A variation what I already suggested for #2, “You Lilac Me, You Really, Really Lilac Me.”
And then for #3, “Skeined Heat.”
#1 – Unicorn (because it’s all pretty pinks and purples, very girly, very little girl at the crazy-about-unicorns stage)
#2 – Gloaming or Whispers or Banshee
#3 – Hibiscus (not an exciting name, but the colors match perfectly, really)
3. Gazania
#1 Berry Stained Lips
#2 Beach Glass
#3 Roses in Bloom
1. Berry Merry
2. Hopsctoch
3. Rhubarb
1. Brazen
2. Cool and Calm
3. Hothouse Flowers
#2
Belladonna or Poison or Wicked
It’s luscious but seems foul …in a good way?
#3 Peaches & Beets
You could just put them all in a bunch and call it “Comin’ Home with Lindsay”, because that’s what they’ll be doing on Tuesday. In reality I’m just about the *least* capable person to come up with good names so I’ll just say that they’re all terribly lovely and I absolutely can’t wait until Tuesday. You’re an amazing woman and artist and have added so much excitement and love (or addiction/hoarding, whatever you want to call it) to my life.
#1: Bad Things – from Jace Everett’s “Bad Things” song – this colour is kind of evil and sexy all at once.
#2: African Violet
#3: Sailor’s Delight – for “Red Sky at Night, Sailor’s Delight” It looks like a sunset at sea to me.
#1 I’m with others on the berry theme… Berry Fool? It makes me think of those days when your belly is full and your skin is warm.
#2 this one is everything I love about stormy sunsets, when the grey clouds just part to let some colour through. Stormy Sunset? Sunset’s Last Gasp?
#3 This one is a mix of colours we just don’t have in Toronto. Ever. It’s just so Wildly Miami and tropical and such. Oooh. Okay. Wildly Miami.
#1 Twisted Candy
#2 Wishing Well
#3 Arizona Sunset
Great idea letting us help in the name game! Thanks and have a great day.
#1 Cherry Fizz

You have some great name suggestions in your comments. I’m not even going to try to top them.
However, I do have a suggestion (maybe you have done this before, I don’t remember). Can you please consider keeping the retiring colorways up on the website for a few days while the new colorways are also available? I would love to get my order in for some retiring colorways but have a chance to order new colorways in the same order. Thank you.

Azaelia, Forget-Me-Not, Nasturtium
I see Oregon Wine
1. Cabernet
2. On the Vine
3. Rosata
Like Sam, I was in Glee-mode, but I also am kinda in a Dr Who mode, so my suggestions are a mix of those 2 themes:
1) Shomance
2) Kurt’s Turn
3) Amy’s Choice (cause the Dr loves gingers)
Oh wait, I can’t decide on #1 still. I also think #1 could be Theatricality or Sassy Mercedes.
. #3: firedance. #2: under the arbor
Someone had Beach Glass for #2 (Gosh I love them all)
So I will suggest- Sanguine Watercolor
It is so pretty and to me the color of beach glass, stained glass, Neptunes Sea Garden ! Sanguine Monet.
I live on the Chesapeake Bay and Color #1 looks on one end like the sky and water at twilight, and the water and sky at dawn. I see both and ahhh such a sense of peace.

I wanted to avoid food names, but #1 reminds me of long, colorful sunsets worthy of a glass of wine, so
#1 Merlot Sunset
#2 Granny’s Nest (the muted, old-fashioned colors make me feel so cosy)
#3 Wild Fire
1. I really like Purple Pickle Juice mentioned earlier…. maybe Pickle Berry
2. Reminds me of the garden in the early morning – Misty Morning
3. Sugar ‘n Spice All things nice!
# 3 Sam and Eggs (say it fast)
1. Boleyn’s Beauty or Tina’s Fool (it seems like such a royal colour and the fools were there to distract and cheer you up – so that’s why I also like Tina’s Fool)
2. Pie in the Sky (it’s a touch cloudy and a touch of me wanting to eat it with whipped cream)
3. Berry Stained Kiss
1 Rosy Love (think red roses – true love)
2 Flirty Flourite (makes me think of the mineral)
3 Summer Sunset (a summer sunset over the ocean)
1. Kimberlite – pink diamonds (which is what this reminds me of) come almost exclusively from kimberlitic deposits.
2. Florite – it really does come in ALL of those colours!
3. Carnelian
In Shakespearean form, a yarn by any other name would smell as sweet.
1) Berry Delight
2) Stop and Smell the Lilacs
